Disney Website issue

Not an issue with this site but with the Disney site and really couldn't find a better place to ask.

When I get on the Disney site I get an error message at the top of the page that says:

"Please Upgrade Your Web Browser

We apologize for the inconvenience, but you are using an older version of your web browser and we are not able to provide you with the best possible experience on disneyworld.com"

I am using Vista and have the latest version of IE. It also seems to cause IE to work a little slower loading pages, switching between tabs, scrolling down the page etc. Any ideas how to get rid of this, or what the issue may be? Please don't say "yeah, use chrome, firefox etc" :)

Thanks in advance

What do you mean by "latest version" of IE? That would be IE 11 - is that what you are running on Vista, as I thought it needed Windows 7 or 8 (as did IE 10)?

So while I will refrain from suggesting that you use Chrome or Firefox as you requested, if you still want to continue using Internet Explorer you might need to upgrade your Windows setup to 7 or (ugh!) 8. More and more sites will start objecting (mainly over the lack of HTML 5 support) as time goes on.

I am using the latest version of IE for Vista, which is IE9, or at least when I go to update it it tells me I have the latest version of IE. I know I am not the only person still using that combo. So while it may not be the most up to date IE, it is for mine and countless others OS. Was hoping not to have to upgrade the OS until I got a new computer.

The Disney site is also the only site I get this issue with. So it seems as if Disney is not giving a clear picture, as they should probably be saying something as "you are not using the latest version of you browser, you need to upgrade your browser or possibly your OS if using an older version"

Thanks for you response.

There are other sites which may give you the same trouble - try http://www.synology.com for example, which I think probably won't let you access it at all without an HTML5 browser (poor programming on their part IMHO).

Other browser types are not so limiting by OS version, so why not just switch to one that allows you to use their latest version on Vista (which IE prevents you from doing). It's really painless, honest.
