I make mine work for me. I buy everything with it, then pay it off at the end of the month. Doing so adds Disney reward dollars to my account...for buying things I have to buy anyway. We have enough now that we won't need a dime in souveniers for the trip and also will make a dent in our food budget for the trip as well. You also get great perks...like free advance screening tickets to Disney movies (Chicken Little, Narnia today), NYC Broadway play discounts (Lion King, Beauty and the Beast). You get a free photo and picture taking session in the parks for cc holders. If you book a Disney vacation/cruise using the card you get 0% interest for a certain amount of time as well.
You'll get a lot of different opinions on this, but here I go. For us we had Citi AA
advantage for many years. Accrued 190,000 miles and we've used more than 100,000 for airfare. The bottom line, it's very hard to redeem the miles. I know
some cards have changed. For us and Disney Visa, there is no annual fee! And if they ever decide to rescind that ...see ya. We accumulate disney dollars and average around 200 each year. Not alot, but enough to spend at Disney in December for Christmas gifts, etc. We pay off our balance each month, so interest rates are not a selling point and will never be! No fees and something back is all I ask for. JMO.
So round number, how much am i gonna need to spend on the card to see any kind of difference whe we go away? I also heard that if you use it in certain restaurants that you will get a 10-20% discount, any truth to that?
I think the card is worth it, IF you pay the balance off each month. We charge everything, if they will take a credit card I use it. We then pay off the balance each month. Currently we have enough for a few days of free food. When we went in 2004 there was also a great discount on the hotel room, although there have not been any great deals lately. There are various discounts available, although I have not heard about any specific restaurant deals.
You get 1% back in rewards dollars for every $US that you spend. Sometimes you'll receive an offer to double your rewards dollars if you spend over a certain figure on select categories (gas, groceries, cell phone, etc.). They also offer extra points for purchases at Disneyshopping.com every once in a while.
So, if you're looking to get back $50 to spend on a free meal, you will most likely need to spend $5,000 to get it.

I pay for everything I can on the card--cable bill, cell phone bill, clothes, gas, groceries, you name it, and it adds up fast. I have maxed it out at $750 in Reward points every year that I've had it.
It comes down to your personal spending habits.
The key is to pay it off every month, otherwise no reward is going to be worth it.
Definitely worth it. I just used my reward money to buy my parks tickets. You get 10% off $25 or more at World Of Disney DTD also. Free 5x7 pictiure at Epcot Innovations West 130-330. Check out their website www.cardmemberservices.com and they usually list some of the perks.
