Hello,

Does anyone know if there is any way to get a Disney Visa as a Canadian? I can't believe they would want to turn down all that business...I can understand that it would be a US$ visa, but not that they wouldn't let me have one....

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Beth

Capital One that won't allow us to have in on all the fun!

Really, from all the complaints that people have had regarding the Disney Visa, not worth it! Plus when they have an offer, they usually offer something similar just by using a regular VISA!

They are so silly -wasting their time with the disney visa inserts...
I have had to change ressies a couple times and have rec'd 3 envies regarding my ressie-each one had the disney visa insert.
HELLLLLLLO disney-I AM IN CANADA AND DON'T QUALIFY!!!
You think they would figure out some way not to put the inserts in the mail they send to Canada-duh!

Scratch - I knew you'd be first to answer this one!! LOL!

Tinkerbeth - I think it has to do with the fact you need a US social security number - and you qualify based on your US credit rating.
Let's just say, banking is a little different here!

Anyway, we are moving back to Canada this summer - and I'm going to try to just notify them with a change of address. We'll see if they allow us to retain the card in Canada.....

It's a OK card - no complaints. I think most people think that the "deals" should be better than they are. I like the dollar rewards you get.

Grover - we've gotten at least 15 offers to get the card in various mailings - and we got it at day 1. I guess the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is sending!

I'll let you know if I'm the first Canadian to have a Disney Visa!

I wish they would do it with a Canadian Visa - why not - a lot of Canadians would love to have Disney rewards on their visa cards. Right now I'm getting the TD Gold Travel Card - with this card you can book any travel through their agency INCLUDING Disney. Closest thing I guess.

I have a Capitol One Mastercard...why won't they let us have a Disney Visa?

I cannot understand the difference?

Firstly, isn't the Disney Visa a Bank One product not Capital One?

Secondly, financial services are a regulated business in both Canada and the US. Capital One issues both MasterCard and VISA in the USA; Canadian regulations do not permit one bank to issue both VISA and MasterCard.

Thirdly, Banks and other similar financial companies issue credit cards under the MasterCard and VISA brands. If it is a US based bank they must qualify the cards based upon US regulations.

Fourthly, Disney certainly could set-up an agreement with a Canadian issuer of VISA or MasterCard or even AmericanExpress if they wanted. Probably not a big enough market to justify the cost though.

Hey everyone,

Here's the response I got from Visa. Looks like we're out of luck. :(

Dear Beth

Thank you for your patience in awaiting a response. I have received a response to your inquiry:

At this point, there is no Disney co-branded card in the market and we're not aware of any plans for a launch of this card in the immediate future. Please be aware, though, that as a Visa cardholder, Visa Canada is planning special offers and promotions that leverage our Disney Alliance. Keep checking back on our site for updates.

Thank you for writing.
