Disney visa

We love our card. It's definitely not our best rewards card but it's Disney and honestly that's all that matters. ;) I love calling in to move my points over to the reward card because I know that menas the start of my vacation is just around the corner!

As others have mentioned, the only real perks inside the parks is the Character Meet & Greet and the discounts on merchandise and tours. Now if you have the Platinum it offers trip insurance and covers you if your bag is lost or delayed!

I just got approved for my Disney Visa card with the $200 gift card offer on Tuesday and can't wait to get it :woohoo: Thanks for all the ideas of how to use it and maximize the points :tink:

Do you have to get a special offer directly from VISA to get the $200 GC?

We also have had the DV rewards card for years and try to rack up as many pts as possible when we know we are planning a trip. I just cashed the last round of points to pay for our Aug.pkg. and it totalled over $1000 off the pkg. price. I still have bonus pts coming for June ane will get my july points by the trip, so we'll have about $150 for spending once we're there. We just charge expenses like gas , groceries insurance etc...but we did get a boost when DH was able to charge some things for work that he was able to get reimbursed for.

rdominy, :welcome: to the DIS boards  I did get the $200 gift card offer in the mail with an invitation number that I had to give when I called to get the Disney Visa :woohoo: I have also received two offers with $150 gift cards but I am so glad I waited so I could take advantage of the $200 one :yay: Hope this helps :goodvibes

We have had it several years and there really are no great deals that come with it. One nice perk is no interest for six months on booked disney vacation. Most other credit cards offer more in reward points and rebates (discover).

Please don't think I am calling you a fibber as this is more of a question to learn about Disney Visa. You said you earned $1500, right? I thought you got $1 for every $100 you charged to the card. Am I right to assume $1500 (X) $100 = $150,000 you charged over the course of 3 (or so) years????

Asssuming this is correct, bravo to you if you did that....well....and you don't have crazy CC Debt.
Yeah, it was $1500, but it wasn't 3 years - we'd been saving for around 5-7 years, IIRC. Many cast members mentioned how they'd never seen a card with that big of a balance before.

We put EVERYTHING on the CC for those years - groceries, gas, car payments, etc. There were a few things that didn't earn points (mortgage payment, for example), but we got into the habit of just using it for everything.

My wife is GREAT with finances and she would diligently pay it off every month - we still don't have any credit card debt and are cashing in points for about $400 to use for our trip in August. And that's been since July of last year.

I too use my Disney Visa for everything and anything that will let me;) Just remember if you don't pay your balance in full every month you really aren't gaining anything if you end up paying interest. All of our spending money on our last trip was "rewards dollars" so I didn't feel so guilty when I was spending like there was no tomorrow:)
We've already racked up $240 worth of points since December of '09:woohoo:

Just got the 200 GC offer in the mail...will probably be taking advantage of this.
