When I have inquired with credit card companies about how merchants are classified, they have told me they have nothing to do with it, that it is all in how the merchant codes themselves for the sale. Not sure how true this is, I have had issues with some gas stations with convenience stores not crediting my gas purchases correctly, but then my Chase Sapphire is great with the double points - I got them when charging the caterers for my DDs wedding (eating out category), and parking meters are double as travel points. It's sometimes a mystery to me. I believe when Chase Freedom has the 5% back on groceries it specifically excluded superstores, so why then would a Chase Disney Visa count them? No consistency.
