Hi Everyone,
I need help deciding whether or not to take out a Chase Disney Visa Rewards card. Right now I have a Visa card with another company. My current card is swithching to Master Card, which I don't want. I don't know much about rewards programs, I do not have any rewards right now and they are really not that important to me. It would be a bonus. I do pay my bill off each month and never leave a balance.

What do you think of the card? I also have a $25 gift card offer if I sign up online. Which I don't really want to do. Is that the best they offer for new customers.

Thanks for any advice!

I have never been a rewards person. I did get the Disney Visa a few months ago and started charging and paying in full at the end of the month. I got the $25. gift card for opening the account and buy the time I leave I will have around $200 in Disney dollars to spend. Plus I plan on going to Epcot for the special visa character meet and greet with the free 5 X 7.

I do not plan on using the card after my trip! Hope that helped...

I signed up for the Disney Chase Visa as soon as we boked our November trip. We use it to purchase the normal monthly expenses such as groceries, gas, cell phone bill, dinner out, etc. and then pay the balance in full monthly. It's so exciting - I feel like I'm getting away with something:cool1:
I think the people who don't like the card perhaps don't pay off the balance and get hit with fees and increasing finance charges. We have Almost $100- to spend in earned Disney dollars. What could be wrong with that? Good Luck!

I have the Disney Visa card but for some reason never seem to get anything from it. I need to pop online and find out why I'm not getting rewards. It's weird.

We do the same thing. We paid for 20% of our last trip this way.

If you are going to spend the money anyways why not put it on that credit card and "get something in return" It is a win win situation!! (Just don't get carried away and get yourself in trouble

I totally agree..... (there is a Disney Visa thread too ...case you aren't aware). We got our card back in 2005 and also are "stacking" the reward points. See, I opened the card with the intent of our Disney cruise next year. We put everything on our card (groceries, gas, dining, etc...) and pay it in full each month. (We even bought new windows for our house on it, a new heater, heating oil...not all at the same time of course  , but vs. writing a check, "may as well get something in return for spending my money" right? ) Anyhow, not redeeming 1 reward dollar yet, we are at about $650+ something reward bucks. By the time the new year rolls around, I'll be ready to cash all them bucks in and apply toward our cruise (btw, DS base price before taxes and insurance is $750...his portion is going to be almost free! :woohoo: )

I say to get it....you DO get cardholder perks and discounts. Just got mailer on Lion King ticket discounts via mail. The perks are small, but you at least get something for spending your money....you just have to decide it you want to apply your rewards toward Disney or something else.

(btw, once we redeem those reward bucks, we are getting a different card to accumulate rewards toward something else....since I doubt we'll be going to Disney anytime in the near future!)

You are getting them. If you log onto your chase.com account there is a manage rewards button. When you want to use them, they send you a card, like a credit card that you can use anywhere.

I really like the rewards...I mean essentially you are getting 1% back, and if you pay it each month in full its awesome.

And don't forget about the advance opportunity for special perks, like booking free dining several days before the public. We got the pictures at Epcot also, which is kind of neat because you get top characters with plenty of time for your pictures. And if you charge the trip to your Disney Visa, you have 6 months interest free to pay it off. So be sure to pay your revolving balance every month, plus 1/6 of the trip, and you won't pay any interest!:thumbsup2

My wife and I love the Disney Reward card. Neither one of us carries much cash with us, so everything is charged on the card, gas, food, and entertainment. I even set it up to have some monthly bills automatically charged to the card.

In addition to the couple hundred reward dollars that we can use for spending money while at Disney, I am lazy and only have to worry about one bill a month.

Like everyone before me, we use our Disney Visa card for everything, then just pay off every month. We are thinking about getting another Disney Visa card either in my name or just DHs so that when we start to pay the annual mantience fee for our DVC we can just use that or add-on points (under $2500) and have 6 mo. interest free.

Thanks everyone for yor help. I have decided to take one out! I can't wait to start using it!

My wife and I have been Disney Visa cardholders since day one (2003?). Even though the reward is 1%, the amount seemed to add up rather quickly. You see, we had decided not to redeem any reward amounts until our son's first trip to WDW, which will be this November.

We've since accumulated over $800.00, which we've put towards our package of accomodations at the Beach Club and Magic Your Way passes.

Earning one dollar for every one hundred dollars spent means that we've used our Disney Visa card for over $80,000.00 worth of purchases since receiving the card. Because we make it a priority of paying off our credit card bills every month we have no credit card debt, yet we've been able to discount our upcoming Disney World vacation quite substantially.

You'll also soon see the benefit of this card and you'll be glad that you signed up.

Okay, I just looked and realized I was getting reward points and didn't realize it. I don't really use it that much but now that we know we are going back, I'll be putting everything on it and earning as many points as I can.

You earn 1 point for every $100 you spend. That one point is used dollar for dollar at select locations. I would make sure to check their site to see where you can use them since it's not anywhere on Disney property.

The other thign too is that you can get discounts on rooms, a 10% discount on merchandise when you spend $50 or more and you get access to a special character thing and a free picture.

I say if you're going to ahve a Visa, you may as well get the Disney one and get the perks.

I have been a member since day one. I am about to take my 2nd trip using reward dollars the 1st was $500 off this one is $600 off YAY!! I charge everything to the card food, gas, electric, oil, phone, internet ,cable-everyone that accepts it. I pay it off in full each week. I'm slightly scared of letting it go a month for some reason-but this works for me. If I have to shell out all this $$ I might as well get something out of it if I can. I have never had any problems with the card. I have also used the 0% for 6 mo on the trip with no problems. I LOVE IT!!:thumbsup2

We have $600 reward dollars for this years trip. We pay as many bills as possible with the Disney Visa then pay it off at the end of the month. We used all our rewards points last November, this $600 has been accumulated in the last 11 months of use. I think it pays. We will spend the $600 off the rewards card first before touching our own cash. That card is burning a hole in my wifes pocket, but she gets to spend it next week.
:)

The Disney Rewards card has been very good to me! I put everything on the card and pay in full each month. I apply my rewards to my outstanding trip balance. . .usually amounts to several hundred dollars for each trip. Next year, we are going on a Disney cruise. By paying with my Disney Visa, I will receive $50 shipboard credit. I love it!

Although you have already decided, I will throw in my 2 pennies worth. We have been a Disney VISA holder for over three years now. I put many of my business expenses on it and pay off every month.
Me, DW and 2 boys are going for MNSSHP, one week split stay, 6 day pass, three character breakfasts and pirate cruise (for the boys). All on Disney with much to spare. I expect to have over $2500 disney dollars saved up by then. I also have a frequent miles card for United and got free airline tickets too.
Plan is to go every four years and accumulate about $3000 for each trip. Without this card I could not afford to go and have a Magical time.

Sign up ASAP. It's paying for the dinning plan on the 19th of OCT for us. We are DVC and pay for the plan on checkin.

Another owner of the disney visa card here while I don't use it as much as my southwest visa it's great to get points for using it!
