Disney Visa Rewards question

I always thought you could use your rewards towards hotel cost and other vacation items. When I view rewards online, the options are very limited. It just has things like pins and cruise credits. Can someone explain?

I haven't cashed in my rewards yet but I thought they send you a Disney gift card and you can use it wherever you want. I guess I need to look into that because I was planning on using it in the parks for souvenirs, etc.

From what I understand, you have to request to have your points transferred to a dream reward dollars card or something like that, which is not the same as a gift card. I always thought you could use them for all things Disney, though. Could someone clarify?

I don't know what you read, but the rewards card can be used anywhere (within Disney) that accepts credit cards.

You have to call and request that your points be transferred to a Rewards Card that they send you. Then you can use it at Disney, in the catalog or at the Disney Stores.

I use my room key for everything . Then just take my Rewards card and pay it off at the front desk.

I use my reward card to buy things whenever we go to WDW. There is at least one shop at WS at Epcot that doesn't accept it, though. I think it is the department store at the Japan pavilion. When they couldn't accept it there, I just decided not to try it at any of the other countries, although that doesn't mean they wouldn't accept it elsewhere.

Before you download your points to your rewards card make sure you check its expiration date! If you download your points to your card every month and you don't use them before the card expires then you LOSE all your points. We don't download ours until right before we leave. Then when we check in we give them our rewards card and they take all the points ($$) off and put it towards what we owe on our room. It has worked well so far!
