We are considering getting the Disney Rewards Visa. Was wondering if other DVC members have the card and could tell us what the advantages are. Also would love to know if there are any great deals for applying. Thanks for the help.

For every $100 you spend on the card you earn a point. So if you spend $10,000 a year, buying gas, grocery, clothes etc you will earn $100 to be spent at Disney. When you decide to go you have to call them up and they send you a gift card and you use it at Disney or some have used it to pay their dues.

another perk is that during special promotions (Like NOW!) They are giving you interest free for 6 months on a DVC add-on (I don't know if they are giving it on new purchases as I only did the add on). What that means is that I put the whole $17,120 purchase on my CC and I don't have to pay it off until May 09!!!! And no interest !!! I also know that they are doing it for Disney vacations too!! (But only if you book through Disney)

I love my disney reward visa card. I put my down payment for my DVC on it and they gave me 500 bonus reward points, it was a promotion they had at the time. When you have reward points you go online or call and they give you a rewards card. This card is seperate from your visa. Once you have the card you can transfer whatever points you have earned on to it. I do this all online. It is really easy. You can use this card kind of line a gift card. They also run promotions like Jan-march if you buy gas, groceries, air line tickets and I can't remember the rest you get 5X the rewards. so 5 reward points for every $100. But you have to make sure to go online and sign up for these promotions.
If you book a regular disney vacation with your visa you get 6months with 0% financing. You also get some others deals.
I love my card.
Hope this helps.

Hi there. Did you just do this?? We would like to put our whole purchase of BLT on our Disney Visa. How can we be sure we can pay it off over 6 months. That would give us time to get our refinance done. Thanks!!

my mother had her financing lined up and she paid Disney with her card and the card with her loan :) then chunked off about 1/2 of out dues with the reward points from the card! Clear as mud?

Both my DW and I have Disney Visa Rewards Cards.

I run my business expenses through it and between us, we have about 550-600 points to spend this Feb (since our last June visit). Since there are only three of us and DS only eats kid meals, we essentially eat free all week and still have some left over to buy sweaters / shirts, etc.

We stopped eating expensive meals ($160 at Le Cellier for three ordering Filet Mignon - heck I just had a party and served 14 people a whole leg of filet mignon for only $70). We generally have a lot of healthly foods to compensate for all the gellato we eat at BCV - I could live on that!!:goodvibes

We really do not pay attention to how many points we get for gas / food / etc,... we just build up the points over a 6-10 month period, dependng upion how often we go. I also put my maintenance fees on the card and therefore get about $12 back.

We have the Disney Rewards Visa as well, and use it for everything and then pay off the balance each month. Here are some of the perks:

* 10% merchandise discount of $25 or more at some stores (I know it is good at World of Disney Downtown)
* Character Meet 'N' Greet for Disney Visa cardholder at Epcot, and you will receive a complimentary 5x7 photo
* 20% off select tours
* 0% financing for 6 months if booked through Disney

The perks are a little different for Disneyland but I think you get free stroller rental at Disneyland.

We love our card....we already have about $750 in rewards for our next trip, and we still have about 6-7 months to earn before we go.

I use my Disney Visa to pay for everything I can. Cable, cell phones, car payments, insurances, etc. Last year we earned close to 600 reward points that I used for paying annual dues. It cut my cost for dues almost in half for no cost to me since I pay the balance off every month. It was money I was going to spend anyways, why not get the most for my dollar!

I've added on at BLT also and used my Disney Visa. I went to the Disney rewards site and it looks like the promo isn't all that it appears when you read the fine print unless I am missing something, which I hope is true! This is a copy & paste from the fine print:

"The rate will apply to that portion of your initial downpayment or add on purchase price charged to your Disney Rewards Visa Card up to $2,500 or 10% of your total purchase price, whichever is less."

So that would mean only $728 of my $7280 add-on would be at 0% interest, correct? Better than nothing but not as good as I initially thought!

Chase just implemented a substantial, across the board interest rate increase, something like 23.99% even for people like us who have credit scores in the 800's. Unless you are paying off in full every month, or have a special limited 0% rate offer, your rewards will be nothing compared to what you have to pay in interest.

Ye be warned! pirate:

We love our Disney Visa. We put as much on there as we can and pay it off every month. It's so nice having that money to spend at Disney! :thumbsup2

We do the same...everything goes on it and we pay it off each month. Have no credit card debt and have no desire to have it ever again.

We have $600/reward points on it as of today. You will also get e-mails with promotions like $5 a point for certain purchases after like $200 has been spent so be sure to keep an eye open for that if you get your card.

YUCK when did they do that???? I looked just know and mine is still down to 5.25%....and my Chase i rewards is at 5.24% and my Equity line is still at 3.25% :confused3 So when is it going to take effect????????? I have no balances at all on any of the accounts so it wont hurt me but it stinks for others that do.

What a time to increase rates....

this is what I found...it is if you are in default or over your limit, and such....

J.P. Morgan Chase & Co.’s Chase unit is raising its rates on credit-card cash advances and overdraft protection, as well as its default rate, which is triggered when cardholders exceed their credit limit or are late on their payments. The bank will also start charging a new $10 monthly service fee to some cardholders who have been carrying large balances for at least two years, while raising their monthly minimum payments to 5% of their outstanding balance, from 2%.
[...]
Chase’s new monthly fees and higher minimum payments will mainly affect customers who have been carrying large balances on cards with low promotional rates for at least two years, says spokeswoman Stephanie Jacobson.
“The total number of customers is relatively low, but the balances that these customers carry amount to billions of unsecured debt,” she says. While these customers cannot opt out of the new terms, she says, they can pay off their balances or maintain their current minimum payments in exchange for giving up their promotional rates. A higher rate, however, means that more of a customer’s monthly payment goes for interest and less to repay the loan.

I am a new cardmember and looked on the site. How do you sign up the promotion liked you mentioned for gas, groceries, etc. I don't see it on their website.

You must receive a special postcard or email to get the promotion, then you must sign up for the promotion. I received a promotion for 5X gas, groceries, etc. over $500 for the months of Jan-March. This is the first promotion I have been offered, and I have had a Disney Visa for years. We also pay off the balance every month. :thumbsup2

Correct, it's a risk based formula. If it was going to happen to you, you most likely would have had your disclosure by now.

Hey, let me know if you are interested, right now, they have a 'refer-a-friend' promotion, and if a current holder refers you, and you use the code, you get an instant $25 Reward points when you join!

That is like having a $25 Disney Gift Card!

PM me! When we joined, we got 15 points, and we were so excited!

We also put our DVC down payment on ours, and we put our dues on it every year!

We love our Disney Visa- we use it for EVERYTHING- we have enough rewards saved up for our upcoming trip that the dining plan will be nearly paid in full by it!
