Hi everyone - we're going to WDW in May and I was wondering how far in advance I should order my Visa reward card to ensure I have it for our trip. Also, I heard that even after ordering the card you can call and have reward points added onto it (say i get the card with 55 points on it, then spend $200 my first day at WDW, i could call and have 2 more points added to the card immediately). is that true, and how does one do it? who do you call?
thank you in advance! :sunny:

Enjoy your trip! Order your card now! ;) As for adding points mid-stream, it's been my experience that you can only add them AFTER they have posted to your STATEMENT, which is once a month. If you have a statement cut-off during your stay, you could possibly transfer those most recent points, but otherwise, just monthly, after your statement is posted/received. I suggest signing up online, you have the quickest access that way. :teeth:

thanks kimraye! i see that i can request & reload the card online which is great. i didn't realize that you could only do it after the statement posts (i guess that's the "closing date" on the statement) so that's good to know. thank you! :goodvibes

You're very welcome! :goodvibes

Keep in mind that there's SOMETIMES a lag between online and paper (as I found over the holidays), but generally it's simultaneous, or at least same day.

Keep in mind that your rewards DO expire so if there is any chance you won't be going in May I would hold off and wait until your plans are secure before ordering.

(However, I have discovered a little "secret" to this......you can go to the Disney Store and use your card to purchase Disney Dollars which never expire. I have done this more than once when I was afraid my rewards card was expiring.)

that's a FANTASTIC tip. thank you! i think we are definitely going but i feel confident in ordering the card now that i know about that option

Order the card sooner vs later. And make sure you keep track of when you order it and when it should arrive. We've had problems in the past with the card not coming when it was supposed to and having to reorder it.

Good point. ;) Also, remember that the card and the points have different expiration dates. It's kind of a pain remembering all this, I know.

They also require a minimum of 20 reward dollars to order a new rewards card. And once you have the card, the minimum they will transfer to it is 10 reward dollars. So, if you have transferred all of your reward dollars to your card one day, then next month earn 2 more, they won't let you transfer them, you have to have 10 :confused3 - I know I learned the hard way!! :rotfl2:

That's why I leave at least a $10 balance when I order my cards. That way, when the next statement is generated, I can add the last of my points to my card right before the trip.

another great tip i didn't know about!! thank you from saving me from learning the hard way as well. :earseek: i also didn't realize that you could choose how many points are transferred to your card at a time.
