Hi DISers,

So I've been racking up rewards with my Disney Visa card and finally booked a trip. Last day of payment is in 2 days.

I racked up $100 in rewards and thought I was just able to apply it on the payment page of Disney, but realized that I have to redeem a Redemption card.
I won't be spending any money at Disney this year and wanted to just apply the $100 rewards towards the trip.

I just redeemed it, but the card won't arrive till 10-15 days.

Would this work, when I am checking in the hotel. I give them my redemption card so they can deduct my balance?

The cards work just like a gift card. If you have a balance when you check in, you can have them apply the value of your card to your balance.

Thank you for the response.
But my question is if I am paying the full amount on my disney visa. I won't have a "balance" by the time I check in right?

Though it is too late now, you can get a redemption card for your Disney Rewards at Roght at Downtown Disney

I'm not sure whether that will work, but you can certainly ask. And if you can't apply your rewards to what you've paid, you will have the redemption card on hand for incidentals.

Six one way, half-dozen the other, right?

If you can't do it that way and don't use it at WDW, you can always buy a Disney gift card with it to use for another trip, shopping online or for a gift.

The redemption card has an expiration date while a gift card does not.

hmm I guess I can just use it to buy a gift card.
Maybe I will end up using it during Disney lol

If I am remembering correctly, I have read of people getting an amount returned their card and repaid with their redemption card.

Remember though, any points you earned with the original payment are then in effect lost.

how much time do you have? i just got one and it took less time than quoted, maybe 5 business days.

our balance is due soon so i need to call in this weekend to use my card.

just curious as to why you won't be spending any money. are you on the DDP? if you have any sit down meals you can use that for tips. you may want to use it to buy a giftcard and then just use for anything that comes up while there.
