Anyone used the disney visa card to get disney points to spend @ WDW? How does it work? Just got one, and I was thinking about using it for everything to get points.

got mine a couple of years ago actually, when I (we?) first decided to go back to WDW. Been putting everything including DD's college tuition payments on it. I do pay it in full every month though. We've now got almost $600.00 to spend on our Aug vacation. Couple that with free dining & it's like not needing any spending money!!

Same here we use it for everyday purchases and was paying it full. Thats until we did 2 trips back to back and bought DVC ,PAP's .But I will get caught back up over the summer and again start carring a 0 balance.

It also has many other GOOD Disney perks not just the 1 % rewards.

Ditto ... we put everything we can (including college tuition too) on our VISA card and pay off each month. We are leaving in a few weeks and will have our character breakfast, fantasmic package and 'Ohana meals paid for with the rewards card. We also have the DDE card which brings down the price on a few of those. It's kind of like extra money!! :woohoo:

What other good perks? :confused3

from when we spent it down to zero in sept '05 and when we went back to wdw in jan '06, we put so much through our card that did not have to use any cash 'til our last day! and we were "souvie happy" and even bought stuff for the kids of the family we were traveling with 'cause it feels like "free money!" i'm looking forward to doing the same thing for our sept/oct trip, which coupled w/free dining and cheap airfare and leftover no-expiry tickets makes this almost a cost-free trip! :)

We also charge everything to our Disney VISA card and then always pay it off at the end of the month to avoid interest charges. One strategy to avoid over-spending (since it's sooooo easy to just say "charge it!") is to always log your charges in your checkbook register (as if you were paying with a debit card or a check) so you know you will have enough to pay off the VISA bill when it arrives. :thumbsup2

We love using the Disney Rewards card because it does seem like using "free" money! We've used it at both Walt Disney World and at Disneyland. As far as other perks - you can check the Disney VISA website for additional offers. :)

Agreed, we put everything on it.
When you are about 4-6 weeks away call and ask them to put the points on your gift card. It is like having free money while you are down there.

I have also heard if you charge your vacation and call customer service they will add the charges on for your points.

This is one of the things that has been great. We can really enjoy without having to spend lots of money. Best investment I ever made.

Once you have a Disney VISA card, you can order your Disney Rewards Card. The Rewards Card is like a pre-paid debit card that you can use anywhere on Disney property. You have to put a minimum of $10 worth of points on the Rewards Card when you order it, and I believe it takes 4-6 weeks to get it in the mail. Once you have the Rewards Card, you can add more points to it any time over the phone, and they credit your Rewards Card immediately! The Rewards Cards have expiration dates, so you have to order new cards occasionally. :)

what are some of the other rewards I have a card and only was using it for the 1% rewards...I have 157 so far and just started about a year ago :)

If you don't already have the card Disney is offering the 50 Disney Dream Reward Dollars again after your first charge. I had one, but DH did not so he just received his, made one purchase and now we are waiting for the $50 Disney rewards. The website is www.50DisneyRewards.com and use the code 6J2P11.

I don't have a disney card yet...thinking about getting one.

Does anyone know if you open an account and then transfer a balance from a different card to the disney card do you get points from that? I thinking they won't give points for that but asking in case I'm wrong!

Thanks!

I was curious about the balance transfer to and according to chase.com you DO NOT get disney reward points for balance transfer.

**Caution with disney visa when due to expire**

when your credit card expires they do NOT automatically send you a new one, and your credits are NOT carried over!

We use ours for everything as well, and are looking forward to using it for our upcoming trip. :wizard:

justplaingoofy, do you mean when the actual Visa expires or when the Rewards Card expires? I know the Rewards Card has an expiration date of, I think, 1 year from when you request it. It doesn't make sense to me that they wouldn't automatically send you a new Visa card when your current one expires . . . don't all banks just send you a new one automatically? Is that what you meant?

One time I had called Disney Visa (about a month before my card was due to expire) and they asked me if I would like for them to send me my rewards because the credit card is not automatically renewed and the points will not carry over... unless this has changed since last Sept. :confused3

Wow, I'll have to keep an eye on when our card expires so I can make sure we get all our points! That's so weird. Thanks for mentioning it!

don't forget each day you can get a free 5 x 7 at Epcot!!! You must show your Disney Visa to enter to see the characters then you get a voucher to get a free picture!!! So nice! Most of the time you will see at least 2 characters in there but I have been when it was just Goofy!

I did this with the card at Disneyland but didn't realize they were doing it at WDW too! Where in Epcot can you do this?
