AAA packages give you some extra perks like preferred parking priveleges, a storytelling experience in MK, a free 5 X 7 photo, a Downtown Disney shopping discount with restrictions, a Planet Hollywood voucher, etc. These were the perks in 2007.

Visa card holders usually get advance notice of special promotions; so, you have a head start on getting a discount. Sometimes, this can be important; because, there's a limit on the availability of room discounts, etc. You have a better chance of getting the exact resort you want for the discounted price, if you have a head start on the public.

AAA will get the same discount about a week later or so. There's no money difference between the two during those promotions; it's just that Visa card holders can make ressies sooner. When there isn't a promotion going on AAA offers a discount all the time on rooms; so, it depends on when you are going; because, Visa doesn't always offer a discount.

If i joined AAA and booked my trip through them, can i use my Disney Visa to pay for it? Also, if a trip is booked thru AAA but a better code comes out thru Disney Visa, can i just switch it or do i need to cancel and rebook? If i need to cancel, do i lose my deposit?
Is it overall worth it to join AAA for whatever discounts they offer or just wait for Disney Visa?

I booked my 2008 ressie with AAA. The agent told me if a Disney Visa discount became available she would be able to apply it to my ressie (if it were applicable).

I have booked my last two trips with AAA and also paid with the Disney Visa. By going this route, I've received the AAA discount (we go in the summer when there are not other discounts available generally) and 6 months free financing of the vacation.

And yes, you can change your rate after making the initial reservation. If you have to cancel with AAA, you've got the same policies on refunds that Disney has...and I can't remember what they are but they're really flexible up until about 5 days before the trip.

I don't think your dates have been popular with promos from past history. Look at resort/vacation discount codes by doing a search and you will see when they are offered. If you go about a month sooner you may be able to take advantage of the free dining. There's been a bounce back offer on this promo already for those who did this time this year; so, hopefully, it will be available to others next year. I don't think that promo starts until April or May and there's a short time period for August and September for using it.

If you are set on your dates, the AAA discount may help you; because, it's a guaranteed discount all the time. Also, I know you get a better discount from Disney for Sun thru Thurs, now. You should look at the slow season to get the most dollars off for a room or other perks that may become available, if costs are a major issue.

You need to decide if your exact dates are the most important or if a deal is the most important. Also, you don't need to make this decision this minute. You have time.

I'm so glad you posted this! Newbie here and I was wondering this exact same thing. I just applied for the Disney Visa and was going to join AAA in January. One more question, though...is this option available for room-only reservations or just packages? I was hoping to just book our room at this point and add tickets/possible dining later. (I want to do WL the first week of Dec. 08 if that matters.) I'd like to wait and hear some opinions of the '08 dining plan first, plus it may be a little out of our reach to pay for an entire package in 6 months (as opposed to room-only) and I'd like to avoid paying interest.
