Disney Visa Meet and Greet vs Character Spot

Is there any difference between these? I'm trying to decide if I need to keep my FP for the Character Spot or just skip it and go to the Visa meet. The picture download doesn't matter because we will either do Memory Maker or upgrade to an Annual Pass. I just want to know if the characters are the same.

yes there's a difference.
generally at the character spot its mickey, goofy, pluto, and minnie and walk up to see one at a time.
at the disney visa meet and greet its typically only 2 characters but some have reported seeing 3, 4 or even the fab 5.
usually though its a combo of mickey and pluto, mickey and goofy, minnie and pluto, or minnie and goofy (some have reported seeing mickey and minnie but that seems pretty rare) and you meet the characters at the same time.

For our trip in May, it was much quicker to use Fast Pass at the Character Spot than wait in line for the Visa meet 'n greet. We tried waiting about 20 minutes for the Visa, but that line was not moving. So we used the Fast Pass and were in and out in 10 minutes.

My kids are 14 to 22. This was the only character stop we did as they and dh were all about maximizing ride time.

we hate wating in line for the visa meet n greet too so we always hit it up right at 1pm.
seems to move pretty quickly if you get there just before it opens.
