Recently there was a discussion about the appearance of the new Disney Visa card. Having used my new card several times this past two weeks I thought I would share my experiences.
Every time I used it the clerk paused to look the card over and I received comments ranging from "I like your card" to "i've got to get one of these". All comments were accompied by big smiles.
I have never before had a comment or discussion about the appearance of my credit card.

We are leaving for OKW tomorrow and I am excited to use my Disney Visa at OKW and WDW..... wonder if they will ask for the AmEX to get the discounts or if I can get perks with the disney card.

I didn't think there were discounts with either card.

From what I understand, American Express and Disney no longer have the sort of partnership that gave Amex card users a 10% discount at certain shops at WDW. This is a recent development, over the last 6 months. In addition, you can no longer use your Amex Reward Points to purchase Hopper Passes at WDW. I've not heard of any discounts available if you use the official Disney Visa card.

Funny! I don't have the Disney Visa yet but I did have the Universal Discover a few years back before they cancelled the program. I received so many "Cool card!" and "I really like this card!" from that one. That's the only card I ever received any comments about-- now if I decide to get the Disney one...

Used mine to pay for Grand Adventures in Cooking for the kids during our upcomming trip.

The CM said that they received over 100,000 application requests on the first day!

My wife still hasn't received her card yet...

I just called the 888-....... number to order my card and gave them the code 681B01 from the DVC site to get Disney Vacation Club on the card but it would not take that code. I remember seeing a code 7BXK somewhere so I gave the person that number and it took it. For those that called in what number did you use to get DVC on the card?

JR...DW tells me she's getting a lot of reactions like that. I've only used it twice, and haven't had any comments yet.

I used that AMEX discount a lot at Downtown Disney, so I'm hoping (probably in vain) that the Disney Visa will someday carry some of the perks that the Disney Club or AMEX programs used to offer.

Keep in mind, we don't get AP's, so no help there either.

I just wish it gave better rewards. The DC card gave a 10-15% (I think) discount at the Disney Store. The new Disney card only gives you 1% back. Very dissapointing.

The DC discount was 10% at both the Disney Store and the Disney Store Online. We still have this discount through the end of the year when the DC closes. And DVC members get the 10% discount at the Disney Store, but not online.

I'll be waiting until the end of the year to see what perks Disney attaches to the Credit Card. Without any discounts, Disney will get much less of our money. Their prices are SO much higher than anyone elses, that it just doesn't make sense to go that overboard. Especially with the current reduction in quality of the Disney items we see in the store.

As far as the credit card rewards go, I look at that differently. That is a 1% return on ALL my credit card usage. (Not just at the Disney Store). I don't care for the rewards on my American Express card and don't travel enough to use the Frequent Flyer miles. So, we'll use the Disney Visa and any rewards will go toward the 'extras' at WDW. A special meal, a boat rental, etc.

I'm taking a wait and see attitude as to what perks will eventually be offered to card holders. They may not come until after the DC is closed. Then again - they might not come at all.

I didn't know that...thanks for the info!

I believe you will no longer get the discount when your Disney Club card expires as it is non-renewable now.
