Disney Visa - Beverage OBC

how do you get the credit? Does it happen automatically or do i need to ask for it? I have only used my disney credit card for cruises and i have never received it...

You must request it. Depending how far in advance you book, it may not be available at the time you book. It can be added later (even though the small print indicates must be requested at booking).

Enjoy your cruise!

Anybody back with updates regarding the beverage credits and what they can be used for? We're cruising on Friday and still don't know what we will use them for since we don't really drink. Dh drinks coffee but it's only a 3 night cruise - that would be a lot of coffee!

On our March cruise they simply applied the $50 credit to our account. At that point, which was day 2 or 3 of the cruise, we hadn't even charged any drinks to our account so I am not 100% sure where the "can only be used for drinks" thing started. In fact, if you look here it does not mention anything about the credit being used for drinks. Maybe it was that way at one point and they changed it back to a general credit?

EDIT: I wanted to add you need to make sure you make the request for the credit when booking. I was completely prepared to fight the customer service desk for the credit but it magically appeared on my first statement.

Actually, it does still specify "good towards beverages" when you look at the small print (the little 4 at the end of the perk)

4. Must use your valid Disney Visa Card to book a Disney Cruise Line vacation for sailings through 12/30/2015 to receive a $50 onboard credit good towards beverages. Call 1-800-257-2024 or your travel agent to book a Disney Cruise Line vacation and ask for booking code DCC. Offer must be requested at time of booking for new bookings only. The onboard credit is per stateroom for each stateroom paid in full with your Disney Visa Card. Offer is valid for up to two staterooms. Any unused portions are non-refundable and non-transferable. Cannot be combined with any other offers or discounts and is for personal use only. Offer subject to change or cancellation without notice. Ships’ Registry: The Bahamas. Chase is not responsible or liable for fulfillment of this offer.

I haven't read any reports yet as to how/if this is being restricted, though.

Ah....that's funny. I do remember reading that paragraph when I was researching our cruise. At least on our March cruise they did not limit it to beverages.

Hello All!

I know prior threads have touched on this. However, I booked my cruise on the dream late last week (We depart March 2nd).

That's interesting! I used a DU travel agent two weeks ago to book my first Disney Cruise. She told me that she could not apply the $50 beverage credit to my booking because the promo "ends on Dec. 31, 2015 and my boat must set sail before that date."

We leave on March 28, 2016 on the Dream.

As shown in the blub I copied from the website, the current promo ends for sailings through Dec. 31, 2015. The promotion is usually renewed, but you'll have to wait for it to be official before it can be added to your reservation. (Note the poster you quoted posted back in January for a cruise that has already occurred.)

Enjoy your cruise!

We booked our trip in January and sailed in April. We had an OBC from our travel agency as well as the Disney Visa Beverage OBC. Our guest account summary was very detailed and showed our excursions being credited against our regular OBC and our drinks being credited towards the Beverage OBC. In fact, there was a separate section on the account summary titled "$50.00 Non-Refundable Beverage OBC" that listed specifically which charges went against the beverage credit (we spent a little more than $50) ie: Waves - Beer $35.50, Waves - AutoGratuity $5.33, Cove Bar - Liquor $8.50, Cove Bar - AutoGratuity $0.67

Some other ideas to spend your beverage credit would be smoothies (located next to the self serve ice cream on the Dream), or bottled water. The $35.50 charge on our account was for the beer package that included a cooler.

Keep in mind that the new "beverage only" restriction for the Disney Visa OBC only applies to bookings made on or after January 1 of this year. Bookings made prior to that did not have any restrictions on how the credit could be used. Did you book before January by chance?

Yes. We book in the fall of 2014.

Thanks for the ideas. But, personally, I still think it is a waste for us (just dh and myself-no kids). We are not big drinkers and with free sodas, I really don't need a smoothie. I wish it was just an on-board credit to be used any way you wish. Or well, dh is gonna have to drink a lot of coffee, or maybe I can find something in a souvenir glass. We cruise on Friday, so I'll have to come back and tell ya'll how we used it.

Thanks for this report -- it's the first I've read indicating that they are indeed restricted to just beverages. Interesting!

Just got back yesterday from our Dream 3-nighter. We used the $50 for dh's coffees from Cove Café (they stamp the coffee card so eventually you get a free one and he will continue to use the card on upcoming Fantasy cruise-we were told it is ok to do that), 2 smoothies by the pool, and 2 Castaway Cay Konk Koolers (those alone were approx $22 for liquor added vs virgin, the souvenir plastic coconut shell cups and tip added). Since I have said several times that we are not big drinkers, I would have enjoyed the $50 more on a 7-nighter rather than the 3-nighter, although we were able to use it up!
