Disney Visa benefits?

What have you benefited from using your visa at wdw? Is it really worth it? The visa would not be used to pay for the package. Just wondering what extra perks it has ?

If you're going to buy souveniers try to buy them all at once. If you spend over $50 you can get 10% off using your Disney Visa. Also, in one of the parks (I can't remember which one because we didn't do it) you can use your card to get a free 5x7 picture with one of the characters.

In terms of their Rewards Points I can't really speak to that. I don't use it enough to have earned enough points toget anything.

It is at Epcot. I have the cards are the rewards aren't good. If I had to do it over I wouldn't get the card.

I definitely think the Visa card is a good deal. I use it for anything I buy because for each $100 I get $1.00 in Disney reward money. I pay it off just as I would if I had originally used another payment method and last year when we went to Disneyworld I cashed in the reward dollars and had over $290. This was used for the souveniers and extra food and drinks, etc. that we bought, and also gave some to our grandchildren for their souveniers. I know a lot of people who even put their mortgage payments on it and that would really add up the reward dollars. Our trip was approximately $4500 so that was $45 in reward money. Some months the points double and there are other perks with using it as stated above. Also I have the cute Tinkerbell card that I get so many comments on!

The 10% off $50 or more is only at World of Disney in Downtown Disney.
The meet and greet free photo is at Epcot and the available characters rotate daily. You can get one free photo a day, if you want to go to Epcot every day.

These perks may expire in September 2008-- they were originally only for the Happiest Celebration on Earth thing last year but they extended the extras for one year. This is not well advertised at all!

The reward dollars is sent to you on a card-- be careful with the expiration date. You don't want to transfer dollars to the card if it's close to expiration.

Admittedly, the Disney Visa isn't the best rewards card around. However, they have cute card designs.

The best thing is to be able to use your rewards card at any resort, restaurant or shop at Disney. Yes, the 1 percent is not as good as some other cards, but they occassionally offer double rewards for groceries, gas, restaurants if you spend a certain amount. I tend to use my Discover Card for whatever they are offering 5 percent on and then use my Disney Visa for anything else. We've had 2 trips with more than $200 each on our Disney Rewards card, so that's been nice. We also got free movie tickets to previews for the Incredibles, Chicken Little and a couple of other Disney movies a week before they were out in the theaters.

The two pluses of the Disney Visa are the reward dollars and the 6 month free financing of vacation packages. This is like "double dipping." I try never to carry a credit card balance but I do use the card and accumulate rewards. Then I use it to pay for my for my trip and get the 1% back to spend on drinks, etc... We had over $200 on the reward card last trip. I paid for my vacation in full before I left last time, but it was nice to know that I could have extended the payments without penalty if I needed to.

For those of you who don't pay off your balance in full every month, the Disney Visa has, imo, a very high interest rate. This could easily offset any savings one might think they're getting when using it. Just FYI.

I think the % rate is high if you have to carry a balance. I use it for everyday stuff & then the big stuff I would have to pay for anyway-such as my car insurance for the year, Disney trips!!-If I will be spending the money anyway, might as well earn some points for it. Before our May 07 trip, I should have about $225 I think. That will pay for any souveniers, any OOP meals, or say boat rentals or whatever. Besides that, it is just okay. And the 10% of at WOD. Free money is free money.

I pay my balance every month in full.... they give me 1% of everything....for my disney trips....

If I book a vacation package....no interest for 6 months to pay

Since I have gotten into sales (on the road), the card is good for taking people out to eat and for getting plane tickets / hotels on, and the good part is the company reimburses me.

How ever, I have 208 Disney bucks, that means I spent 20,800 dollars! I really cant see this card for the normal gas /grocery person, doesn’t pay well.

But if you have a card that does nothing, its not that bad.

We got the card in 2003. We have banked all of the $$ on it since our last trip to DW in 04. We are going in April and had almost $1800 that we used towards our resort stay. We used the card for everything, paying it off every month. We did have some large expenses, home repairs, college tuition, part of a car down payment, that we intentionally put on the card to add the $$. We then paid those charges because they do have a high rate.

If you are patient, or like us, don't go every year, it is worth it.

I have had the Disney Visa since it came out. The rewards are fine if you like to spend all of them for Disney stuff. We had AMEX, lots more choices, but not everybody takes AMEX. We have a Southwest card too. So far we will get free airfare for our trip in August, plus we'll have about $500 Disney dollars to spend on food, souvenirs, etc. Not bad for using the credit cards (and paying them off every month)

I agree with others that the rewards are not the best, but I use the card for everything and, as a result, I will have over $600 Disney Dollars for use at WDW during my trip in April. I can't wait.

I found I get the best rewards from my Diners Club card! It's nice to have a card with Mickey on it, but we don't use it much.

First used ours on our 2004 trip, only had about $75 worth but it was $75 we used towards souveniers and food. I use ours now to pay for a lot of stuff and then pay it off every month. As mentioned by others, there are certain times when you get extra dollars. Plus my daughter loves pins so we have bought some of the pins that they have offered and have used some of the discounts available for Disneyshopping.com.

Also, we signed up at Upromise.com and registered the card there so on some products or at certain establishments we get a % of our purchase saved for a college account for my daughter. If you don't have kids but have child relatives, you can sign up there and have the % go to an account for them. Ask there parents if they are registered there.

We were there last month, went to DTD guest services and they gave me my reward card....I called the 800 number and I had $97 transferred to that card.

We used it for 2 TS meals.

I pay all my bills using the card so I can rack up the points (dollars)

If you take a tour you get a better discount than AP or AAA, which are 10 or 15%, I think. The Disney VISA is 20%.

I got something in the mail last month that said that certain purchases, gas and groceries I think were worth double for a limited time, through feb or march. You can go to your acount online and check your info and see if they have any updates there too.
