Disney Visa and Dining charges

I have read that at Resorts etc you can get the visa discount if your spend more than $50, is this true? And if so does it apply to all purchases for example buying food or mugs etc...

I have never heard this.

I believe there are/might be some places that give a discount to Disney VISA card holders, but I'm not sure of that. If so, I don't think it would be limited to purchases over any certain dollar amount.

The only perks I know of for sure are the 0% interest financing on Disney vacations booked on the card, and the Visa Character Photo in Epcot.

I have also never heard of this & use my Disney VISA & it's discounts religiously! They do (or did) offer a discount on purchases over $50 at World of Disney in DTD, but nowhere else that I've seen.

If this is a new perk - someone please share the info!

I got the discount at the store at All Star Movies. We did some last minute souvenir shopping the night before our departure. I don't think it is available at restaurants/food courts.

In August, they extended the World of Disney discount to Disney owned stores but not restaurants. So if you buy merchandise at stores on property, spend more than $50 pre-tax in a single purchase, and ask for the discount, you will get it. It does not apply at restaurants or with purchases of photos.

Thanks - good info. Do you have to use the card to pay?

We have never asked for the Visa discount anywhere - we never spent much time at DTD or anything or else forgot - but I do remember people saying you could get the discount just by showing the card, but you could pay using cash or another method.

So how would this work?

We typically charge everything to our room and then charge it to our Disney Visa...would we still get the discount? Or would we have to mention it at the time of purchase?

Not on you room account, it must be applied at the store. I've only got it at the World of Disney store at DTD. Never even thought of the resorts, but I usually don't buy much at the resort shop at once anyway.

I never heard this and I swipe my card every where. Only discount is at the World of Disney Store if you spend over $50.00

You do NOT have to use your card to get the discount, only show it. We did this in Jan at WoD and in Oct '08 at Disneyland.

They used to just give the discount at the World of Disney store, but now they have extended it to other locations as well. Here is what the website says. .

At Walt Disney World® Resort, a $50 minimum pre-tax single transaction purchase is required to receive discount. Discount is not valid on purchases of ticket media, gift certificates, Disney gift cards, videos, DVDs, Disney Dollars, sundries, periodicals, film, Lladro, Armani, Hummel, Swarovski Crystal, Walt Disney Classics Collection, other collectibles and select merchandise. The previous poster is correct that you didn't have to actually use the card, you just had to show it. Not sure about that now. Happy spending.

I used this discount 3 times last week, Tren-D, WoD and Mouse Gears. Each time they made me actually use the Visa card, which was no big deal to me.
