Hi

My wife & I have just bought a 5 bed Villa in Davenport. Now I am not seeking to advertise here or drum up any business, but wanted to know what the top priorities for people were when booking a Villa.

For us it has always been proximity to parks, cleanliness & value for money, but I dont want to take it forgranted that it is the same for everybody. So any help would be gratefully received.

If the mods feel I am pushing the boundaries, then sorry, I am not trying to annoy anybody, just looking for some genuine help.

Thanks

Hi!!
Well, we only came back last week after two weeks in a 7 bedroomed villa in Emerald Island. This is our third time in a villa.
My main priority is cleanliness. Everything must be immaculate, inside and around the pool area. No insects. Nice clean towels with no stains! Clean crockery and cutlery - and plenty of it! Nice comfortable furniture - IMO it doesn't have to be over-the-top luxury, just comfy! One of the things that really annoys me is those bed mats. They just don't feel clean. I know it would be impossible to wash after every guest leaves, but sometimes they are so dirty I've had to wash them myself!!! I know this is an issue with hotels too, not just villas!

The location of the villa is not such an issue - I'm happy to have a short drive to the parks - but I like to be near a supermarket, restaurants etc, and I'm happy to pay a little more for this convenience.

Can I just add, this trip we had the unpleasant experience of arriving at the villa and it hadn't been cleaned. Now I know mistakes can happen, but the management company were not very helpful about it. Still having words with them about it now!!!

For us as well our main priority is cleanliness and value for money and comfort.There would be nothing worse than walking into a dirty villa imo.

Last year we stayed in a villa in davenport.lovely area,not to far from the park's restaurant's ect.

Any chance of some pic's? Pm if your not allowed to post them on here.

Oh congratulations on your purchase. :cool1:

I like a villa to be immaculate (which really translates to new, which is why we always rent and have never bought one ourselves). Each time we visit, we seem to add more 'essentials' to our list:

* Jacuzzi
* Games room
* PC with internet access (I'm posting from our villa now)
* Two master suites (and preferably similar sizes)
* Huge flat-screen TVs
* Top of the range furnishings
* Free phone calls (including international). All of those we have rented in the last 12 months have offered this, but we do pay top dollar
* Big pool with landscaping

I am very fussy and spend hours trawling the internet. An outside kitchen/bar and TV is also good. More and more now seem to have Home Cinema Rooms. We tend to stay very close to WDW. I would happily stay further out, but I've yet to find one which meets all our other requirements. FG still seems to be the premier sub-divsion. Having visited Re-Union (and played a round of golf there) last July, I'd love to stay there, but I haven't been able to find much to rent there so far.

Hi ya! Main things for us are:
cleanliness
good supply of towels, pref a few beach towels to save us on packing
tv/dvd/cd
tv in bedroom(s)
convenient to local store or restaurants etc

could you PM me details of your villa too!

Thanks
Gems

Same sort of thing here - cleanliness, plenty of towles, crockery & cutlery and close to a supermarket.

Also, I now try to look for a villa that doesn't have too many neighbours, as we had a problem once with noisy neighbours at the back of our villa - not nice when you're sat by the pool chililng out in the evening.

pm me the details too please - already booked our villa for next year but I'd like to have a look for future reference!

Hope it all goes well for you.

Just echoing the other comments, pool towels, good selection of kitchen utensils (for when my DM does the dinner;) )

.. and another request for a PM for the details

As a fellow owner in Davenport of 7 years pm me if you think I can be of help .

This site never ceases to amaze me! Thanks everybody for your replies. A lot of the things that you have mentioned were on our criteria when we bought. I think its difficult to please everybody all of the time, but I am pretty sure we can get the essentials right.
Thanks again

We stayed in a villa last year at bass lakes it was really nice main thing is cleanliness bedding towels crockery cutlery etc also near to a supermarket being near the parks isn't to important hope you have lots of fun times please pm me details of your villa if you don't mind

Echoing all of the above. We also like a lock box for the keys...rather than having to find a management co after a long flight.

best of luck
Janie
:)

Thanks again everybody. Nine(Me, DW, DSx2, DM, DF, Sis, Bro-in law, & nephew) of us are on the 10.25 Virgin flight from Manchester to MCO tomorrow for 2 weeks of excitement & fun. Its just unfortunate that we wont be in our own Villa. Still it means we will have to go back in June to finish it off!

Congratulations to you Im green with envy ;)
We are going to be staying in davenport at the same villa as our last 2 stays due to it being a real home from home( well luxury shall I say)
Like most of the villas it has all mod cons, pool, jaccuzzi, Plenty of kitchen equipment, etc and ovbiouslt immaculate.
The extras that we like are the simpler things.
Having children we always appreciate the pool and beach toys, bikes, games books, videos, beach towels, ponchoes for the wet rides, cool bags for making up picnics, a friendly phone call to make sure everything is ok.
Being able to check out later if it's possible,
I could go on and each time we stay there is something new to add to our list.
Im sure the fact that you have asked for people's advice means that you will have a fab holiday home to enjoy and rent I wish you lot's of luck and please Pm me with the details :wave: :wave:

Hi
By the time you read this you may be back home so I hope that you have had a lovely holiday.
Ditto the comments re cleanliness etc. The other things that I would have found useful in the villa that we stayed in last year are the following
1. Rather than the coupon books for info I would have preferred a book containing comments from other visitors re the best places to eat out
2. A local map showing where the supermarkets were.
3. We left our washing up liquid, washing machine detergent, dish cloths etc behind so that another visitor wouldn't have to go out and buy them. The chances are though that this would have been thrown away. A box in the garage with leftovers such as this would have been really useful - even with a note to say that they are used at your own risk!
4. For the colder months instructions on how to turn the heat up - I resorted to my hairdryer in the end.
Hope you enjoy your villa for may years to come ::MinnieMo

I agree with the above,

A map of local supermarkets & a visitors book from previous renters would be great.
