just wondering if anyone has ever used the Disney Visa credit card to pay for there cruise and what you were able to get for the points you get we are thinking of applying for one instead of paying cash

You should check out the DIS Budget board. There was a thread there recently about the Disney Visa card and a special $50 Disney dream dollars for getting approved for & using your disney visa card.

We used our Disney Visa to pay for our trip. You have 6 months to pay it off interest free, plus you get 1% of what you spend. If you want to pay cash for your trip just use your visa and then pay the cash to the visa bill when you get it, you'll still be getting your 1%. And you do get the $50 on board credit for using your visa to book your cruise. Call and ask for your reward dollars about 3 weeks before you trip just to make sure it gets to you in time for you cruise. It usually only takes about a week or two but better safe than sorry.

when you say you get 1% back is it a credit and how do you redeem it and what can you redeem it for

From what I understand, you call or go online to "ask" for your reward dollars once you've earned them and they send you a card like a credit card that has the dollars on it. You can then use the card to purchase anything disney, I think, such as tickets, merchandise, MORE TRIPS, etc. You then save your card and they continue to add your reward dollars to it. Hopefully someone will be along shortly to clarify all of this. I just recently got the disney visa card and have not gotten my reward dollars yet.

Yes, Tina thats how it works. We use it for everything at the grocery store, gas, department stores etc. Then we just pay it off that month when the bill comes. So far $300 towards our cruise!!!:Pinkbounc

We also used our Disney Visa for everything (medical bills, prescriptions, groceries, gas, vets) then just paid it off when the bill came. We had a major kitchen remodel due to an insurance loss, charged what we could on our visa and paid it with the insurance check. We ended up with $555 dollars in less than a year (unusually high amount, I'm thinking) and used it toward our shipboard account on our June 5 Western cruise.

Also, I did everything online. After you've earned your first Disney Rewards dollars you need to request a Rewards card. Once I had received my rewards card with the opening balance in the mail, I just went to my online account every month and transfered any additional dollars earned to my Rewards card, all from the comfort of my laptop. The Rewards cards do have expiration dates, and if you don't use the balance by then, you lose those dollars. I am not going to transfer any more dollars to my current rewards card expiring next year. I'm going to wait and save them until our next cruise (hopefully in May 2006) and just request a new card a couple of months before we will leave.

I was looking at this, and what is the max that can be earned towards a cruise on this thing. I coulda sworn it was $750, but am not sure.

If I'm not mistaken I think it is $750 per year.

Does anyone know the website to get your reward dollars? I checked the Disney Visa website and can't find where to look at my account. Thanks.

I just used my Disney Visa last week to make the final payment on our cruise ... so I just earned another 64.74 reward dollars.

tink5 ... did you "join" at Bank One/Disney Visa website?

Also I'm not at the Disney website ... I'm at First USA ... think it's b/c I had cc w/First Usa before Bank One "ate First USA" so all my accounts are at Cardmembers Service for !st USA.

Go to the Disney VISA website (www.bankone.com/disney) and you will need to create an username and password (if you haven't already done that for your account). Once you have done that, log in, and go to the drop down menu on the right. You will want to choose Manage Rewards, then press GO. From there, you should be able to request a Rewards card and transfer points over to the card.

We don't use credit too much, but put $6600 on ours on a major purchase, then 3 days later transferred it to another card with a much lower rate--but still got 66 reward dollars! Just got my card with $129 for the cruise on it!

I just requested our rewards card last week and so far we have $200 for our cruise (parasailing, banana boat, can't wait)!. The Bankone customer rep I talked to was very helpful. He explained that once you have a rewards card you can call and they will update the card you have with any reward points/dollars that you have earned on your acccount. He asked when we were planning to vacation and told me that during that time our account will have a statement cycle and they can transfer rewards two days after a statement cycle. He suggested that we call the 800 number while we are at DWD and get whatever points we've earned during the cycle transferred to our card so we can use them while we are still on vacation. We also got the $50.00 ship board credit for putting the cruise deposit on the visa.

Disney Visa is now offering a great deal to get people to sign up...if you apply and are approved you will get $50.00 reward dollars after your first purchase with the card.

That is a much better deal than when I signed up a few months ago....I think all I got was a pin.

I do not know what the code is but it is listed at the link in the thread to the budget board.

Fasten your seat belts folks because I recently heard that Bank One is about to be eaten by I believe Citi corp. Not sure how the Disney Visa will change, but it's possible that it will change somehow.

Hey, maybe it will be for the better! Let's think positive. I remember when they first came out with the Disney card, many didn't want to bother getting it BECAUSE it was issued from Bank One. Maybe Citi Corp will be better. Let's just hope they don't discontinue it! But I don't think so because it's so new and Disney discontinued the Disney Club and used this CC as an excuse for it's demise.

Let's keep our fingers crossed!:teeth:
