I don't usually go to DL during the summer months, but I'm taking a "newbie" and want to take her when the parks are open late every night and everything is up and running.

Have some questions: How bad are the crowds during the week during the summer months?

Can anyone direct me to good information on the WOC? They were still working on it the last time I was there. Both my friend and I are handicapped and will be in ECVs. Any information out there about viewing WOC and handicapped persons?

Think we'll purchase the dessert package for Fantasmic. How far in advance should we reserve these? Our dates are August 20th - 27th.

Thanks in advance for any and all responses. :flower3:

We went late August a couple of years ago and found the crowds to be very manageable. Many schools in Southern California go back the last week of August, so I think that makes a difference. We were going to go last year at the end of August also, but we allowed ourselves to be scared off by dire predictions that it would be too busy once the AP's were not blocked. That ended up being "much ado about nothing" and it apparently was not bad at all.

It will likely be hot 80's to 90's, but if you're ok with that then I think it is a great time to go.

Sorry, I can't help with your Fantasmic ot WOC questions.

It will likely be really crowded around August 19 and over the next week because of the D23 Expo. I would go before that if possible. Crowds are usually busy but not terrible in summer.

See "Getting The Most Out of a Summer Visit To DLR" www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1345319

For WOC see "Getting The Most Out of a Summer Visit To DLR" www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1345319

You can and should book Fantasmic desserts ASAP - one month before the date.

We went in August 2009, for the same dates you are looking at and it was fairly busy, though probably not too busy compared to regular summer crowds. Every ride had about a 20 min wait minimum and a lot were around 40+ min. Some, like splash mountain and indy were over an hour all the time.

One thing though, it was hot. OMG was it ever hot. It was well over 100 every day we were there. We pretty much had to leave the parks around lunch time and come back in the evenings because of the heat. I wouldn't go back again at that time of year just because of that lol.

The Dobies typically go to DL the second week of August, typically Sunday-Friday or Monday-Friday. By getting up at our normal time so we can be in line at opening, taking advantage of magic mornings, collecting fastpasses for later, shopping, watching Aladdin, and visiting the lovely GCH pool in the afternoon, and having dinner in a nice, airconditioned restaurant every evening, we have a fantastic time!!!!!! We will typically buy the dessert seats for Fantasmic the 9:00 showing on Tuesday night, and that will be our late park day. . .then we line up at DCA at 9:30 on Wednesday for a shorter day. Usually, we use our Fastpasses in the evening after dinner and head back to the hotel by 9:30.

Can I bump this to ask about a trip the week prior- say August 12th-16th? This will be our first visit to DisneyLand, previously we've been to Disney World a great many times. We are used to heat, so that isn't a great concern...it's more of the wait times.

I am wondering the same...we will be there on August 14-17 and are curious about the crowds. We were at DL/DCA in 2004 for 5 days during the first week of August and it was one of the best vacations we ever took. I do remember it being very hot but we took advantage of the hotel pool and taking frequent breaks for our 3 and 6 year old. We will have a 14 yr, 11 yr, and a 3 yr old this time around (and a very impatient 3yr old at that!). We are planning on taking advantage of the FP as we did last time. I also have the Mousewait App on my Droid to help out with planning. Any other advice from the "experts" out there? :confused3
