Walt Disney's theme parks has been the topic of urban legends. Any one want to share??

After his death, Walt Disney's body was not cryogenically stored.

I remember that when I was in middle school, someone did a project on Walt Disney, and said at the end that he was frozen in the tallest tower of Cinderella Castle. Everyone just looked at her and said "Yeah...right."

I heard somewhere that people believe that the Haunted Mansion is actually haunted.

A child was kidnapped, taken into a bathroom and drugged, had his hair dyed, wrapped in a blanket and finally was carried to the gates, only to be rescued by the security guards who recognized his shoes.

I also hear the PotC is haunted, can't remember which room.
I've also heard that they've used real human skeletons of PotC...I believe the DL one, tho.
Then there's the kidnapping and hair dying child molestors.
And a CM was crushed to death between the wall and one of the sets on CoP.
Have to remember more...

The one about the CM getting crushed on CoP is true.

Oh, and supposedly Disney doesn't allow anyone to "die" on Disney property. They're declared dead at the hospital or somewhere off site :scratchin

Possibly less pervasive than the Uncle Walt cryogenic storage story, but ...

the top of Cinderella Castle does not screw off to be stowed away in case of hurricane.

:rotfl: Oh, yeah! Forgot about that one...I've actually heard that the whole castle can be disassembled in case of a hurricane. (OF course this isn't true) Boy, urban legends are fun!
Also, one of the busts in HM is Walts face (again, not true...it's Thurl Ravenscroft, sp?) But alot of people believe that one.

How about if you deliver your baby in Disney they get free admission for life.

Oh that POTC one is funny. "George," the ghost of the CM who died during construction haunts the ride. This was discussed here a few months ago. Where do these things start?

Well, you'll find that an awful lot of people with first-hand knowledge so believe in George. There is a big, elaborate story, then the story behind the story - you'll find that most things have a grain of truth somewhere. The CM's at PotC believe in it enough that I believe it's still true that the SOP manual indicates that George should be greeted in the morning and salutations should be expressed at closing.

The best site out there for urban legends, Snopes, actually has an entire category devoted to Disney, and an entire section just to the theme parks. It provides the definitive answers to most of the legends (and truths) people have talked about here, as well as many others.

It's not that disney doesn't let people "die" on the property, it's just that they have to be declared dead at the hospital by a Dr. I know it's like that in Fl, not sure about Ca. So, lets say a man dies in his house, he can't be pronounced dead until brought to the hospital.

this may sound stupid, but what does COP stand for?

It stands for Carousel of Progress in Magic Kingdom's Tomorrowland.

Like, NewEnglandDisney, I also want to mention www.snopes.com. They have sections on the theme parks, Disney movies, the Disney company, and Walt Disney himself.

I read somewhere that a CM was crushed on a revolving ride but not COP at Magic Kingdom. It was the old America Sings attraction at Disneyland. It was a revolving theater that turned the audience to different scenes of singing animatronics. Apparently the CM didn't move quickly enough between scenes and she was caught by a moving wall. I actually think this one is true.

The Snopes website says that is a true story:
