Disney Urban Legends

I remember that when I was in middle school, someone did a project on Walt Disney, and said at the end that he was frozen in the tallest tower of Cinderella Castle. Everyone just looked at her and said "Yeah...right."

That's b/c everyone knows Walt was stored under PotC.

And I have also heard the one about the kidnapped kid who had his/her hair dyed. My mom told me that one at least twenty years ago when I was about 6 or 7.

"Body Alteration or Modification
Intentional body alteration or modification for the purpose of achieving a visible, physical effect that disfigures, deforms or similarly detracts from a professional image is prohibited. Examples include, but are not limited to, visible tattoos, brands, body piercing (other than traditional ear piercing for women), tongue piercing or splitting, tooth filing, earlobe expansion, and acquiring visible, disfiguring skin implants. "

Have you ever seen the lead imagineer for AK? The one with the HUGE ear decoration (an earRING it's not!)? It 's so big his ear lobe is stretched almost to his chin. Obviously this rule doesn't apply to him - they put him on TV to promote EE. My kids are freaked out about him. :crazy2:

He is an eccentric guy, isn't he? :rotfl: The rules though refer to CMs that are out there in the parks for guests to see everyday. There's a whole different set of rules for Imagineers, Animators, etc - the people who are behind the scenes and we don't see. I'd imagine when he was hired, it wasn't expected that every person doing a special for TV about anything AK related would want him front and center. Although I doubt it would have made much of a difference in the decision to hire him, since for those positions it's about talent, creativity, and know-how and not so much about "show" . . . so he's sort of excused by the company and free to have spacers in his ears or any other "feature" that is considered taboo for the guy checking your lapbar.

back in the '90's I worked for a movie theatre that adapted their employee dress policy after WDW. No visiable tatoos or piercing, no facial hair, no long hair for males, females could have one set of earings, make up and hair color had to be natural looking. Along with shirts had to be tucked in, black pants, black socks, black shoes w/ absolutely no other colors.

I think he's a hoot! I love his enthusiasm and passion, the kids are another story. (Which is wierd because DD13 is bugging me right now to dye her hair shocking red...ugh.) Actually, doesn't he kind of fit in with the whole AK atmosphere? I love it! ;)

A child was kidnapped, taken into a bathroom and drugged, had his hair dyed, wrapped in a blanket and finally was carried to the gates, only to be rescued by the security guards who recognized his shoes.
This probably came about as part of the training (not just at WDW, but many other places...) for CODE: ADAM. Helps to highlight that a kidnapper can change a kids clothes, dye their hair, basically hide them from casual inspection, but you really can't "plan" for the size shoes that a child wears. It's one of the identifiers that are stressed for when a situation comes up with a missing child.

AFAIK, it is only an urban legend at Disney, but true enough in other places.

Yeah, he's definitely an interesting fella - his personality somehow makes his appearance make total, absolute sense. I couldn't imagine him in a suit and tie.

I'm not sure you are posting this as an urban legend itself or if you believe that its true.

I was just responding to the poster that noted that disney doesn't let anyone die on disney property. :)
