Day 7 Sunday 12/17
A foggy morning which soon burned off to a bright sunny and very warm day. After our breakfast at CC we took the walkway to GF to enjoy the tree and gingerbread house. Then we boarded the monorail to MK. Of course, since it was a weekend it was jammed. We didnt plan on any rides this morning anyway. Right by Tonys we saw Pinocchio and Gepetto. I got my picture with them and got their autographs. We stopped by the
Tea Cups and got Alice and the Mad Hatter. Im getting many more autographs than I thought I would. But Mickey was nowhere to be found. Maybe well see him tonight at Epcot. It was getting towards lunch time so we got our usual lunch at CHH. We each got half a tuna sandwich and clam chowder for me and veggie chili for DH with a side order of cole slaw and a special treat of chocolate cake for dessert. Nothing more to do this morning so we headed back to our room and those wonderfully comfy beds for a nap.
We went over to Epcot to go to the Disney Visa card character greeting. AT LAST, there was Mickey! I finally got his picture and autograph and Goofy too. We got a coupon for a free 5 X 7 picture. We had 3 or 4 shots to choose from. We even got their signatures on the picture. We thought about seeing the candlelight, but the line was way past Italy. We stopped for a while in France, just people watching and relaxing. Finally seeing people with those scrumptious desserts got to us. We had to have one. We shared a Napoleon. YUM! We went back to Italy to hear La Bafana. Im part Italian, so I enjoy the story. If youve ever heard the story, you know in one part she says she stayed home and minded her own business. The reason I love this story is I can hear my mom saying those words to me even after I got married.
It was too crowded for us, so we caught the monorail to the TTC and then to the Poly. We had our dinner of Dole Whip and hot chocolate. Thus fortified, we headed to the dock to wait for the water pageant and Wishes. We were entertained by a 2 or 3 year old little boy who was so excited he kept running around back and forth. His mom was always just a few feet away from him, telling him to slow down. This is where my heart stopped. The launch was at the dock loading passengers. The little boy was running and his foot went off the dock and he fell in the water between the launch and the dock. The mother screamed OMG and dropped everything and jumped in after him. Everyone, including my DH went running. But the mother somehow got him and the boat captain and her DH pulled them both out. I have no idea how she found him in that black water with little light. The little boy was scared and wet by otherwise fine, thank the good Lord. Her husband ran and got a bunch of towels that a CM gave him. By the time they were wrapped in towels a security guard was there taking their statement. Within minutes they had the EMTs there checking him and the mom, who was 3 months pregnant. Both checked out fine and stayed for the fireworks. Im sure the little one forgot all about it with minutes. I dont think his parents will ever forget it. I think I said Thank you God about 20 times.
It was a very clear night and the fireworks were spectacular. Time to head back for a good nights sleep.
