We were in Disney World from 8/23/09 - 8/27/09 - me, hubbie and twin 7 year old daughters. We had been to Disney before but this was first time on dining plan and it definitely saved us money. Since planning on going to Disney back in March
I was going back and forth on whether to try the Disney Plan
and so glad we did do it. It is very convenient sand saved money. We had no credits leftover whatsoever - not sure why people have so many credits leftover. Next time we go, we will probably do the deluxe plan (dont know when that will be). I did not keep all our ADRS but did most of them. We ate at the following table service restaurants (some we paid OOP for): Boma for 6:15 pm dinner, Teppan Edo for 4 pm late Lunch/early Dinner; Jiko for 5:50 pm dinner, 9 am CRT Breakfast; 8 am Story Book Princess breakfast, at dinner at Fulton Crab House (not covered by DDP).
Boma: We arrived around 6pm at Boma for 6:15 ADR and was seated within 5 minutes of arriving. This was a nice buffet meal we all tried different things. The soups especially impressed me all had nice flavorings to it. I dont like squash normally but that soup with squash in it was delicious. It was crowded but not where we waited long to get food. I would give the Boma experience a B+.
Jiko: This was a very nice meal as well. I had the beef short rib. I and my mom make this back home in NYC so it was nice seeing how someone else makes it and how it is seasoned. The meat does come right off the bone I liked that. My hubbie had the halibut fish and he said it was good. He also had the cauliflower soup and we shared the olive flatbread. All were good. One of my girls had a peanut butter and cheese sandwich and the other had the grill cheese sandwich cant mess those up. This experience was an A-.
Teppan Edo was great I think that was the meal we all enjoyed the best. I would give this dining experience an A. I had the shrimp and chicken combo as did my hubbie. One daughter had the shrimp and the other had the chicken. My daughter that had the chicken didnt eat the veggies but she art all her chicken and the rice with soy sauce (I ate her veggies plus mines LoL). The chef did the volcano out of onions and that was great to see. Hubbie and I like this Japanese wine called Tekara plum wine so we ordered the bottle of that. This was an excellent meal. Please make ADRS for these places as it is hard to get them as walk-in I saw several people turned away
The CRT Breakfast was also a very nice experience got o give it an A.. If its in your budget do it at least once. Our waitress was nice and although I know they were on a tight scheduled .I really didnt feel rushed. My hubbie ate the healthier breakfast option - of strawberry yogurt with some type of granola cereal or something like that. And he really liked it so thats a definite plus as I didnt think there would be much breakfast food there that he would like (although he would not have complained). We took a family picture with Cinderella in the lobby and upstairs in the dining room, Belle, Jasmine (the girls favorite), Snow White and Sleeping Beauty came to the tables and signed the girls book and took pictures with them. CRT was one of the ADRs I was wrestling with whether I should keep or not .this turned out to be a real nice experience and I am glad we did it. We got the family picture (big and small ones) and the girls got wands (and the boys got something too .I think swords).
The Story Book Princess Breakfast was nice too I would give it a B+. At our breakfast here, Cinderella came around as well as Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and Ariel. The breakfast was good too . I just give the edge to CRT because its in the castle. Plus - its awesome to get into Magic Kingdom before they officially open up I felt so special. Also, CRT seemed a little bit more organized to me as far as getting into the dining areas. But whichever one you do .it will be nice so don't agonize over it ...really don't.
Fulton Crab House This is located at Downtown Disney and not on the dining plan. We dined here before when we were here in 2005. Hubbie and I shared a crab and lobster fest meal cant remember what my girls had either macaroni and cheese, pizza or chicken nuggets. The food here was very good too. The bread and appetizers we had were great. You know how many restaurants will give you assorted bread with "butter: .well we got some type of "spread" to put on the bread it wasnt butter but something else (cant think what the waitress called it ) but it was great. The waitress gave us a card with the recipe on it - have to find it. Even my kids ate the spread with their bread. This was a B+ experience.
thanks everyone for making this a great trip ...hope this helps someone with their trip plans.
