I'm looking into insurance for my Nov. trip. I called Disney insurance and got a quote which sounds reasonable but doesn't include air protection since I didn't purchase it through them. I'll have to get separate insurance to cover that part. I'd like to hear how others have done this.

I'm thinking I'll shop around for one that gives me complete coverage. Am I right in using total market value of the trip when asking for quotes? I don't see how I could recoup my vacation points. I assume that Disney insurance will be reimburse the market value of the trip and not give back my vacation points.

So far I've read insuremytrip is a good one. The quote I got from them is very good (about $100). Am I safe to take the lowest quote or does that not give me enough coverage? It's hard to figure out what and how much insurance to get. :confused3 I'd love to hear your experiences regarding this. Thanks!

The insurance that DVC sells reimburses you $5 per point in the event of a cancellation (you do not get the points back). You should have received a flyer with your reservation. Unless you are at the end of your use year, it isn't worth it, you could rent "distressed points" for more than that.

I've used travelguard in the past and will be using travelex for our next trip. With those, you insure against monies which are non-refundable -- so you can insure against the full value of your trip.

Used and claimed $1600 with travelguard when stuck in atlanta trying to get to albany this past february. They were wonderful! Will be using Travelex for this January trip -- they'll insure usair against strike and the delay is after 5 hours.

You can do better than disney's insurance!
