Is there a thread that has in depth explanation of the Disney transportation such as where the monorail and buses stop? We are going in January for the first time and I feel like I have a handle on just about everything except for the transportation. We are having meals at a couple of different hotels from where we are staying (All Star Movies) and want to know the best and easiest way to get there.

Thanks

Hi, We stayed at movies this passed Sept.
and only used Disney trans. to get around. Let me know if you have any ?'s! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

I want to suggest that you don't try eating anyplace far away from where you plan to be on that day, or that time of the day. Disney transportation is wonderful and very efficient, but you really have to know how to use it. There is no direct resort to resort transportation so you need a theme park or Downtown Disney as a transfer point. It's always easiest to eat at a resort in the theme park area you plan on for that day, or time of day. For example, if you want to eat at any of the Magic Kingdom resorts (Poly, Contemporary, Grand Floridian) plan either the MK or Epcot so you can monorail over easily.
If you want to eat any any of the Boardwalk resorts (Boardwalk, Beach Club, Yacht Club, Swan and Dolphin) you can either walk or boat over to this area very easily from either the Epcot International Gateway (near United Kingdom) or from the Disney Studios.
Bottom line is to make your meals easy to get to so you don't waste time travelling around. You would not want to have a meal scheduled for the 50's Prime Time in the Studios if you plan on being in the Magic Kindgom that day.

PS...all WDW menus are on allearsnet.com.....dining......menus

I agree on the make your meals where you're going to be. I always tell people who ask me . . .

Generally, busses run from your resort to theme parks or Downtown Disney. There are no resort to resort busses.

Here is some more information that may confuse you or help, it's up to you. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

At the front entrance of Disney-MGM Studios, off to the left as you exit, you can get a boat to Epcot (and vice versa) that makes 3 stops on the way at
Swan & Dolphin
Yacht & Beach
Boardwalk.
At Epcot, the boat drops you at the International Gateway between United Kingdom and France.

At the Magic Kingdom, you can get a boat to these resorts
Polynesian
Grand Floridian
Contemporary
Wilderness Lodge & Fort Wilderness

Monorails:

The Resort Monorail loop has the following stops
Transportation & Ticket center
Polynesian
Grand Floridian
Magic Kingdom
Contemporary

The Express Monorail runs between Magic Kingdom and Transportation & Ticket center.

The Epcot Monorail runs between the Transportation & Ticket and Epcot's front entrance.

That might help, too, to familiarize yourself, or to use to get specific routes you might be thinking of. Any specific questions, let me know.

To go to the CR from MK by boat, you would have to go to WL and then switch boats to the CR boat.

It is much faster just to walk to the CR.

Thanks everyone. I already planned most of the meals according to where we were going to be that day. There are a couple of days that I left "open" for whatever and planned meals at different resorts. I didn't plan any lunches on those days however, so we won't have to leave in the middle of the day.

I appreciate everyone's advice!
