Disney Traditions

Its sad but the must do for us is ride "its a small world".

The four of us are sick people who enjoy that ride.

For me and DW Haunted Mansion is an absolute must. DS6 and DD4 are not so sure about that one.

For our family it's eat at Casey's and get a dole whip. We always have at least one character meal during our vacation.

My goodness, there are so many things we MUST do on our trips to WDW. Here are a few of my favorites:

1. Our arrival day we usually check in and head to downtown disney - non park day- and eat at Wolfgang Pucks and shop at World of Disney

2.Our first morning we always have breakfast at KONA Cafe and we split a Tonga Toast.

3. We alwasy end our trip with Illuminations and ice cream at Beaches 'N Cream @ the BC.

ENJOY! :)

Dd aged 6 had lined up the 12 of us at DLP for October to do that ride first. Guess what is the only ride to be closed in the park then.

We always do Hoop-Dee-Doo our first night. Grocery shop, check in, unpack, go to MK, shop...then go to HoopDee! :)

We always do something that we haven’t tried before.
Oh... and eat at the Brown Derby.

first day we MUST do a walk thru of the MK
4th of july dinner at narcoossee's
last day WISHES on main street

My sister and I (both 50-ish - me more so, her less so) ride the monorail around several times - newest part of this tradition is asking to ride up front if we have newbies with us.

The 2 of us riding Buzz Lightyear as many times as possible during a quiet time using FP and running from the exit to the entrance. Ususally we get 3 or 4 rides in in a relatively short time period. ANd if the ride breaks down while we are inside - EVEN BETTER!

Doing TTA and COP, even if absolutely no one else is.

We are Disney nuts - and no one else in the family understands this, so aren't we lucky to have each other?!

What is TTA and COP?

We always get a picture in front of Cinderella's castle, buy christmas ornaments, coffee mugs, refrigerator magnets, and eat at Crystal Palace.
Still have not figured out the "dole whip".

Please keep sharing your traditions with us all. :wave2:

I beleive the Dole Whip is kind of a pineaplle orange julius drink? PLEASE corresct me if I'm wrong.

Our tradition is to eat at Chef Mickey's our first night. We usually don't go to a park as we get in late afternoon and I don't want to "waste" a full day ticket, but it gets us in the mood.

Other things we always do:
*Buy an ornanament with the year on it
*try something new (this year it will be the campfire and movie at FW and MVMCP)
*eat at 50's prime time cafe

We always eat at Pinnochio's Village Haus and wave to the people on "It's a Small World".
I had my first Dole Whip float last visit. It is going to be a new tradition!

TTA - Tomorrowland Transit Authority
COP - Carousel of Progress

A good place to see all of the abbreviations used on these boards is http://www.wdwinfo.com/abbreviations.htm

And the Dole Whip is a ice cream (or custard?) made with pineapple. I like the Dole Floats which is the pineapple ice cream in pineapple juice.

We started this back in 1999 at Disneyland Paris, and we've continued it here too at WDW. As soon as we get off the POTC ride, we buy a mesh bag of chocolate pirate coins with the different characters on the foil. One time at WDW they didn't have the mesh bag--the whole family panicked! We found a plastic chest-box thing, but the chocolate coins weren't the same, and even the kdis were disappointed!

We also buy the Mickey shaped lollypops (neat pastel colors) sometime during our trip to MK. We've seen them in the local Disney store too, and the kids got a big thrill out of getting them, like having a little reminder of the Magic.

We also buy a photo frame with the year on it and an ornament every year.

Eat at the Brown Derby

Stand in the Virgin Megastore - just takin' it in (this comes from when I was a CP and spent more money in that store than on food)

Ride ToT at least 3 times

Turkey legs

Well this might seem over the top, but we have different names when we are in WDW. We have plain, old, boring names for the plain, old, boring rest of the year, and on our first trip, we decided that we needed fun names for the fun people we become on vacation. So in WDW, we are Wendy and Andy because we think they sound like fun names. We even have our DisNames embroidered on our mouse ears. I only feel safe admitting to this here on the DisBoards!

My family's traditions are:
Go to Epcot 1st on the day we arrive
DS and I eat fish and chips in England
DS and I get an English candy bar from the tea shop in England
We ride Buzz Lightyear 1st in the Magic Kingdom
Eat breakfast at the Rainforest Cafe outside Animal Kingdom before entering the park one morning
Have a Mickey Head ice cream
Have a Dole Whip
Buy at least 1 Christmas ornament
Get a new charm for my charm bracelet
When we go for the week of Thanksgiving, we get a good photo of the 3 of us to use in our Christmas cards.
Try at least 1 different restaurant during the trip
