Disney Tom's?

Does anyone here paint Disney toms? I would really like to buy a pair but everywhere online sells them for waaaaay too much. Let me know because I would really like to buy them!

Do them yourself! Buy some off brands to practice on and you can get the paint at Hobby Lobby or Michaels.

I has mine done in DTD . I cant remember the shops name but they sell lots of clothes and stuff and its on the end where the clubs used to be . I paid for the TOMS and then picked out what I wanted and she painted them right there . It was around 80 bucks ( may have had a DVC or AP discount I cant remember )

The $12 for shipping is what gets me about that one pair. That kind of thing drives me nuts on etsy and ebay.

How strange! My daughter and I just tried doing these today. We got some slipons at Walmart (less than $6) and thought, if we mess up, it wouldn't be too costly.

They turned out fine. She did the Mickey head on one and the Minnie head with a bow on the other. I did one with a Buzz theme and the other shoe had a Woody theme.

I don't think that you'll have much trouble. We looked at samples and sketched with a pencil before coloring in with fabric paint. We got some Scotchguard to help to waterproof them more. Don't know how the Scotchguard will work b/c the paint is still drying.

Our next idea to try is to trace from Disney coloring book pages onto some shoes and see what happens.

Get some cheap shoes and try it. It's a nice activity to get into a Disney mood.

My DD did a Nemo pair, she bought plain white Toms on Amazon and used fabric paint and Sharpies for the designs. It was really easy and turned out adorable! Definitely, try to do them yourself! There are several knockoffs right now that look *almost* like Toms so you could do one of those first to make sure you like them. If you want a design that you can't draw easily you can search for clipart and trace.

I admit it is too rich for my pocketbook also, but since I have some artist talent maybe I can make some for us myself. Will give it a try.

You can get BOB's (by Skechers) for less than Tom's. Our Kroger had some great knock offs last year for $8.00.

Just a note for those looking at getting ones at Curl in DTD. They will not do any Disney paintings due to copyright infringement. They have books you can pick designs from and/or customize with your own drawing. We asked to add 'hidden' mickey ears to her pair and they politely declined saying they could not do anything that was copyrighted.

Wow those are crazy expensive for what look like simple basic canvas shoes. Some of the paintings on them are not even that good. Some are amazing though.

I would definitely do them myself.

Another reason they are kind of pricey is because they have to either buy the shoe or order the shoes. TOMS are not the cheapest shoes. I own a couple of pairs and for what they are, they are kind of expensive. So take into consideration that the painter is buying a shoes that is between the price range of $55-$75 (depends on the shoe).

I am starting to design a few myself. I am going to start off simple.
I made Buzz Lightyear sneakers for when I dressed up at Buzz for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party and they were my first pair that I ever painted.
