According to the Orlando Sentinel, Disney is going to unveil a brand new luxury campground south of the Palms Golf Course and to the West of World Drive. The new campground is expected to replace the partial hookup and full hookup sites in Fort Wilderness. The current Fort Wilderness will become a full Premium Campground for campers in excess of 35 feet and will have the expanded pads and cable, internet and better amenities like a nicer pool, weight room and sit down restaurant. There may be some consolidation in sites to accomodate the larger sites.
The new campground is to be called Buena Vista Campground, and will cater to smaller campers and tents. Bus service will transfer patrons to the ticket and transportation center and to downtown Disney, like it is now. Groundbreaking is to take place in the spring of 2008, with the opening to be held in stages. The first of the 300 sites should be operational by fall of 2010or early 2011, depending on the permit process and SWFTMD approval.
