Disney Time Sweepstakes Winners Help Us Plan and Chat!

I just got the first of my emails, it kind of looks like the spa experience might be a gift card, I have a few things to send them yet but we are doing 2 nights at the beach club and 4 nights at the poly, I'm so excited for the refurbed rooms!

I have a question about the 500 dollar gift card for recreational activitys. Do they just give a disney gift card that you can use just about anywhere or does the 500 have to be used on recreatio which i think would be hard to do if you do not use it all can you use it on another trip and how about the shopping spree is that a gift card you can use on food etc. thanks

I actually spoke with a Fulfillment Manager today! I still did not get a clear answer from him about this.

I kinda don't think they will give a clear answer. My guess is that they want you to spend that money there so if you book things first then some of the card would go to the activities at least. They said to book the spa myself but there was no mention of how it will be paid for, which makes me think it will be just another gift card.

For the OMDD winners, we were all given Disney gift cards. Most of us chose the Downtown Disney shopping spree, but there is no such thing as DTD gift cards or anything. The nice thing is that you can use the gift cards almost anywhere. Most of us just charged everything to our rooms then used the gift cards to pay it off. I know that quite a few of us were able to save a lot of our gift cards to use on our next Disney trip, but we were given $1500. :)

Did any of you guys use it for food? We were kinda hoping to use it for both. I know most places in Disney World accept gift cards but not sure if we could use it for that at Disneyland.

I received an email today explaining that our signature dining and spa will be on gift cards, but if we want to do a signature that requires pre payment they will have to book it for us. So I sent another email just to clarify that if we don't use all of the spa credit at the spa that we still get the $800, I haven't heard back yet.

We all used our gift cards for food. You can use Disney gift cards almost everywhere on property so we used ours for lunches, dinners, merchandise, even ice cream. Hopefully they'll do the same thing for you guys and just give you a gift card when you check in to the hotel.

Here's a list of all the places you can use Disney gift cards: http://www.disneygiftcard.com/where-to-use/. One thing we did find at Disneyland was that you couldn't charge things to your hotel room at Downtown Disney like you can at Disney World. My boys only wanted to buy Lego but they don't accept Disney gift cards at the Lego store at DTD and we weren't able to charge it to the room. Not a big deal though. :)

Awesome! Looks like a life time supply of dole whips is in my future. Thank you!

Does anyone know if I would have a better chance getting the ADRs I want if I book them through the planners or on my own? Maybe both and cancel which ever ones aren't as good? We need to book the hoop dee doo through them to have it as part of our package, otherwise the rest of the dining we can book and pay for with the remainder of the gift card.

Did you hear back on this?

I really hope so.. the spa is just not our thing.

I just got all my paperwork in. Were hoping to leave May 31

Hows the rest of the planning going for everyone?

I always book my own. Even when we stayed club level. I just never trusted anyone and like to pick my own times.

I think were going to go with no ADR'S. Try to keep our time open. Early June is pretty warm and I think the kids my need some down time.

This was the response I got so take it as you please,

Booking a spa treatment does not require any prepayment. Disney Gift Card dollars (US$) within the parameters of your prize will be provided to cover this expense.

It's coming along, I have a plan for what park what day and I'm working on my ADRs now. This is our first trip so we are trying to make the most of it.
