What is the cost of the Disney park tickets at the Disney store. Are they worth getting here in Canada? We are possibly going to Halifax next month and was wondering if we should be getting them here as opposed to getting them through Disney. Also wondering how it works as we always get the dining plan....do you have to purchase park tickets through disney in order to get the DDP? We are looking at going for 10 days at the end of October

If you are going to get the dining plan - then you have to get your tickets as part of the package through Disney.

But if not, I would definately get tickets from the Disney store. Prices vary depending on the # of days you want tickets for, and if you want the hopper or water park option. But basically the tickets are at par. So instead of paying the price in US, you are paying it in Cdn funds.

Our dollar is getting a bit better now - but i got my tickets a few weeks ago when it was 1.30. Even at 1.23 you're still saving a lot if you're buying for a couple people.

Thanks for your reply. Just a thought but could I possibly get a 1 day park ticket through Disney and this still qualify for the dining plan ? Then I could my 7 day park tickets in Halifax

You could - but the cost of a 1 day ticket is almost as much as the 7 day ticket!!! Once you pay the big chunk of the 1 day ticket, its like 30 bucks for an extra 6 days!!

Definitely worth buying it in Canada.. 7 day PH pass (expiry) was less than $300 with taxes.

I have a question - when you buy tickets here at the Disney Store can the CM at check in link your park pass to your room key or will I need to carry around my park pass separate from my room key?

Is there an online store to buy them from or do I need to go to Vancouver to look for one?

Can you get Disneyland tickets too, or just WDW?

You will need to go to the Burnaby store to get them... buying them online would defeat the purpose of paying Canadian rates that are near on par as you'd be buying them from Disney in the US in US dollars.

If you have a room only reservation then yes they can link your ticket to your room key.
If you bought a package with a one day ticket (for example) so that you could get the dining then no they cannot link your other ticket to your room key. You would have to carry that ticket with you seperately.

Thanks for the info!!! Thats one less thing I have to worry about losing. I lose so many things that my mother is holding onto our disney tickets until the day I leave for Florida. Recently I lost:

my car keys (which was a BIG deal because it had a chip in the key, so I couldn't just get another cut) - They were finally found in a Christmas candy bowl - 1 month later!

An envelope with $50 in it. I still haven't found that

and my mind :rolleyes1 but thats another story. I know I've lost lots - misplaced even more. My husband gets so mad when i walk back in the house on the way to my car and say "has anybody seen my purse? my cell phone? my keys?"

okay.....sorry for asking from what I am sure is a repetitve question on this board however....I can't find a search tool to find a thread to answer my "newbie Disney" ticket question.

Thanks to everyone on here it has become obvious to me that if I am in range of a Disney store here in Canada that I should be buying my passes there because they are still at par for the time being. Question I have is 2 parts:
1. we are only going for 3 days this year as we make our way to Fort Myers Beach...however the difference b/w a 3 day base and a 7 day base pass for our family of 4 is only about $63 CAD. I am thinking that with a 6 and 8 year old it would be wise to pay the extra for the 7 day passes and when we are on our way out of the park this year pay the $ to convert the remaining 4 days on our passes to "no expiration". Does this make sense and does anyone know what the USD cost would be at DW to do so?

2. since my kids are 6 & 8 now......but might be both over age 9 when we return with the remaining 4 days @ no expiry.....would we have to pay more to upgrade to adult passes or is the price set based on their age on the first day the pass is used this year?

thanks in advance
Mike

We're staying with our DVC points so no need to buy 1 day ticket :) That is great...

Anybody do this with a split stay?? Does that complicate things too much?

Yes it is only 63.00 to upgrade from a three day to a seven day ticket however to upgrade to the no expiry option they charge you based on the origional ticket length not how many days you would have left to use up.
So your origional ticket cost for a seven day base ticket is
Adult- 242.82 Child- 205.55
To add the no expiry would be 15.71 per day (so 15.71x7= 109.97) per ticket.
The total cost for the four of you to upgrade 2 adult and 2 child tickets would be 439.88 U.S.
They will let you use a childs ticket until it is used up without paying to upgrade it. We are still using up a child's ticket and DD is now 12.

thanks disneynuts!!

Employee over the phone @ Disney Store indicated that it was a one time charge of approx. $55-$60 to change pass to 'no expiry' at WDW.....nice to know the real deal.

Disneynuts: Is there expiry date on the tickets bought from Disney Store? If I buy the 7-d base tickets from Disney Store now but will not use it until one or 2 years from now, do they still work? Or I have to upgrade them to no-expiry first? (but how if I can't go to Disney this year?) :confused3

TIA

Photolover.....as long as the ticket has never been used it will never expire.
Tickets without the no expiry option are only valid for 14 days from the first time it was used.
On our fisrt trip back to world after having my DD"s I used 4 tickets that my mom found in the back of her safe when she was cleaning it out after my Dad passed away. They had to be 15 years old. Since they had never been used Disney honored them!!!

As stated the cost per ticket to change a 7 day base into a non expiry is $110 US.

Is it worth it? Yes....

The ticket prices go up every year. Sometimes twice. If you bought a 3 day ticket it would cost you ( todays current gate price) $212 for and adult ticket. Then next trip you need a 4 day ticket it will cost you $219. That totals $431 US plus tax (approx $537 CAD).

Dis Store tickets per 7 day base adult, currently, $242.82 CAD including tax. Then add the no expire upgrade for $137 CAD ($110 US). Grand total $379.82 CAD.

On top of that savings is whatever the future price increases are.

BTW, the gate price for a 7 day base adult ticket is $228 US plus tax.

Your second question...the answer is no you don't have to pay to upgrade the kids to adult tickets. As long as they were bought and first used while the kids were between 3-9 yo. When you return you can have the tickets changed to adult tickets at no cost.

Hope that helps. :)

That is only partly correct. It depends on the length of ticket you have. I found this at Mousesavers:

No Expiration Option -
1-day ticket - n/a
2-day ticket - $17
3-day ticket - $23
4-day ticket - $50
5-day ticket - $70
6-day ticket - $80
7-day ticket - $110
8-day ticket - $145
9-day ticket - $170
10-day ticket - $200
*plus taxes

The No Expiration Option can be added after the initial ticket purchase, but you'll have to pay the full upgrade based on the original length of the ticket. For instance, if you buy a 7-day ticket and decide on the 5th day of your vacation that you won't be using the rest of the ticket on this trip, you can add No Expiration for $117.15 and use the remaining 2 days on a future trip. Such upgrades are allowed within the first 14 days (day of first use plus 13 days).
