they have come close to kidnapping out of the park before

When Pirates of the Carribean was being built, a Disney Imagineer was killed while building it. His name was George. Next time you ride it, say,"I don't believe in you, George!", 3 times, and the ride will stop. Believe me, it happened to me, trust me, it is freaky! :earsboy:

I heard this exact same story about the Haunted Mansion. :scared1:  :scared: :hyper2: :faint:

Hmm...is this like Peter Pan, where if you state the obvious "there are no such things as ghosts", then one of them dies? Oh, I forgot, they are already dead. ;)

If this is TRUE and it is not just some CM stopping the ride but actually the work of a ghost you have $1 million dollars coming to you!!!!..and the placepaying the money is the JRE Foundation and is in Florida too!
The Foundation is committed to providing reliable information about paranormal claims. It both supports and conducts original research into such claims.
At JREF, we offer a one-million-dollar prize to anyone who can show, under proper observing conditions, evidence of any paranormal, supernatural, or occult power or event. The JREF does not involve itself in the testing procedure, other than helping to design the protocol and approving the conditions under which a test will take place. All tests are designed with the participation and approval of the applicant. In most cases, the applicant will be asked to perform a relatively simple preliminary test of the claim, which if successful, will be followed by the formal test. Preliminary tests are usually conducted by associates of the JREF at the site where the applicant lives. Upon success in the preliminary testing process, the "applicant" becomes a "claimant."

So- hurry up and collect the $1million---this sounds so easy to prove...!!!!
WEBSITE FOR JREF and to see application

I'm only surprised about one of these: I SAW the singing bust (without prompting from a rumor) that in my opinion was CLEARLY Walt Disney in one of the graveyard scenes inside the WDW Haunted Mansion last September. It was very memorable and I got quite a chuckle out of it--perhaps it wasn't intended to be him, but he sure did look like him!

No. This is a popular urban legend, but it is not true.

Several guests have been killed on Disneyland attractions.

I was at Disneyland when one incident happened. Sept 2003 Big Thunder Railroad went off the track. I didn't see it just heard about it through other guests.

Of course, the band would really be unimpressive without the fabulous vocal stylings of the "Phantom Five," a collection of singing marble busts. These singing statues (lead by bass vocalist Thurl Ravenscroft [second from left], who is famous for his "Grrrrrrr-REAT!" portrayal of Tony the Tiger)

Ravencroft also sang the "Grinch" song.

:rotfl: Those are too good

I was at Disneyland on my birthday when a large tree fell down in Frontierland. It was near the Mark Twain/Columbia dock. Nobody was killed but several people were hurt. It was quite amazing to watch cast members from several lands converge on the area, yelling at guests to go elsewhere while the park closed off the area for hours.

The media coverage was amazing. At one point I counted six television helicopters hovering above the park to get a look at the accident site. The sound from all of the helicopters was thunderous.

At the time of the accident, we were on our way to the Mark Twain from the Haunted Mansion, but decided to stop at The Disney Gallery to pick something up. That detour probably prevented us from actually witnessing the accident or worse.

It may be an "urban legend" that children have been abducted from DW, but as a parent I would be a total idiot to let my guard down simply because its the "happiest place on earth". That's one UL that might bear being carried on.

ITA!!! We can never be "too careful" with our kiddos!!! NOT worth it to be careless!!!!

There are a couple of urban legends that aren't on Snopes. For example, there's the one about those ubiquitous turkey legs. Some people like to believe that they're really emu legs.
Another persistent rumour is that Disney doesn't pay the College Program wages, the government does. Obviously this is nonsense (why would the government pay for a private company's internship program??), but it's been around for a while.

Well, If you do the stats of the maybe 1000 people per day visiting the park and maybe after 30 years 10 dieing it is like getting hit by lightnign

I don't think it went off the track! A car hit a stopped car that was in front of it and a young man's chest was crushed and he died!

This isn't quite accurate. The Big Thunder accident at Disneyland happened because of poor maintenance. As the train was going up a lift hill, the front car (which has no passengers) became disengaged from the rest of the train, and the train slid backwards on the tracks.

You're right! I stand corrected! It has been awhile since I read about it.

Actually the train wreck was caused by a wheel breaking under stress and the cars derailing killing the man near the front there was another incident just after it reopened where several people were injured when 2 trains collided do to improper training of a CM and a computer programming glitch. The CM did the one wrong thing that the program did not cover and led to the collision. We were there also but did not see it the derailment, but took an interest in what had happened. Actually heard a rumour about that night in the DL hotel elevator, but did not find out about until a few days later from FIL when checking in before returning home. pirate:   :earseek:
