Disney - Strike One

Lustergirl - So I didn't get any DME service, what should I think? I tried to remedy the situation without getting anywhere. I am not leaving for 7 days so overnighting the material seems like a good solution, but not to Disney. Felling like I'm getting taken by Disney is not my idea of fun. I just expect to get what was offered to every other paying customer, nothing more, and certainly nothing less.

As many have posted here you are still entitled to your DME and can do so without the paperwork that you receive in the mail. If you don't receive this paperwork I would give them a call to make sure you are in the system and they will tell you that you can just go the DME counter at the airport and they will take care of everything. Please take the advice of many on these boards as we know what we are talking about...

with ME I think you need the yellow tags to help ensure the bags go where you go.
Not true. They've had a Plan B in place since Day One. We've never read any posts here on DISboards from anyone saying they didn't tag their bags, let DME handle them anyway, and DME had trouble delivering them. Never.

I find it interesting that the raves are coming from people who've actually used DME,and the only negatives are coming from people who've never used it. This is a troubled pattern her on the DIS, and has been almost since DME started ....

People post about their anxieties, but somehow they get "heard" as actual experiences. Then people post on other threads that they've heard a lot of complaints about DME. Search around, and you'll see exceedingly few complaints from actual customers, compared with the many many many positive reviews.

DME works just fine without the yellow tags. Always has ... by design.

:sad2: :sad2:

Just because you are paying deluxe prices and others pay to stay at a value resort doesn't make you anymore entitled to better DME or disney service. I expect the same kind of DME service I sometimes stay at a value resort during my disney vacation. The ony diference in the level or resort that you stay are the amenities- you get more if you pay more.

Exactly. The fact that you don't have your DME paperwork yet has NOTHING to do with which resort you're staying in. You could be paying for a suite at the Grand Floridian and you still might have problems with DME paperwork. Sometimes mistakes are made. It's unfortunate, but it happens and everyone should understand that even the CMs make mistakes sometimes. This isn't even that big of a problem. Numerous posters have already told you that it's not a big deal, and plus, for all you know, your paperwork will be in your mailbox tomorrow and all of this will be for naught. :sad2:

Honestly, your expectations are already off the charts if you're this upset about the bus that transports you from the airport to the resort. You're acting like you're entire trip has been ruined already. I can't imagine what kind of heck you'll raise if a ride breaks down or something. All I have to say is, God help the poor CMs who are going to have to put up with you all week.

I, like other posters, also feel badly for your little boy. Instead of focusing on just spending time with him and sharing some magic, it sounds like you're entirely focused on your bottom line and how much you're spending on this and that and how it's not what you want to be spending your money on. You'll be so focused on whether or not Disney gave you your "money's worth," looking left and right for little problems for you to blow out of proportion, that you won't even have time to notice the enchanted look on his face the first time he catches a glimpse of Mickey or the castle.

I say either get your priorities straight or don't even bother going. You're just going to have a miserable time and your son will pick up on that. Trust me, I was that kid once upon a time, and no child deserves to feel like that.

I thought it might be cool to tell my son that it was a special bus to take us to Disney World and make a big deal of it, but Disney has already taken that away. It is just disapointing and sad that they can't even do the small thing right so far.
I started off by trying my best to provide information and to be supportive, but GOOD GRIEF!!!

They didn't send you two pieces of paper that you don't strictly need, and somehow Disney is "taking a service away from you." You will have the service, just as promised. Your reservation is in the system, and that's all that matters.

You sound like someone who shouldn't be intimidated out of using a service due to a lack of unnecessary paperwork, yet you seem to be using this minor nothing as an excuse to be cranky and set yourself up to have a lousy time.

Due to your lack of DME paperwork, NOTHING will be different about your DME experience from mine! Unless you decide to make it so ....

I'm sure you're a great Dad and your boy will have the time of his life, but perhaps you'll find a way to have a good time, too!:hippie:

I know this must be frustrating for you but I hope that you can look past the "business "part of disney and enjoy the magic with your son when you get there.
When I was a child my parents took me and then as an adult I took my husband and now we are taking our daughter.
Yes Disney screws up like any other business. But the magic that it provides is amazing!!!!
It is an experience that you will always remember if you are open to it.
I hope that you and your son both enjoy your magical vacation and you have many memories that will last a lifetime.
Isn't that what it is really all about when you are a parent?

Cass- Indeed, not rocket science! I got a stretch limo..er umm, special car!

Lustergirl - So I go to the ME counter and what, describe my bags to them and they will pick them up and I can do the bus trip like normal? You play the lotto don't ya! Her's how that coversation goes:

Maxsdad: Hello, I am waiting for my bag to arrive from the magical express, and its 12:00 am.

ME: Did you have the tags on you bags?

Maxsdad: No, they told me on the DIS board I didn't need them.

ME: Yeah, we'll get back to ya, click....

Relax..............your taking your little guy to a place that is the happiest place on earth..............and since this is your first time you will both have a blast exploring the parks. I have been to Disney World 6 times since it opened
and I will always remember walking in for the first time. It was like walking in to a different world..............I was 12 at the time, now I'm 47.........and I can still recall the awe and wonder.............

if you are so worried then gather your luggage for them or take a taxi. Did you come on these boards just to argue with people or are you genuinely looking for some tips and info as many can give you. It seems as if you are just wanting to be doomed for the start of things.

Something doesn't sound right to me about this thread/post. Just a guess. From no ME (was ME given the airline information before the 2 week mark) to a limo. Hmmm... Lots of name dropping of places, but staying at the WL. Hmm........

Yeah you're right. I'll just gather my bags with my son and take the limo, er umm, special car and relax. No big deal. :grouphug:

Uh, you hand over the "stubs" airlines tear off your checked bags and staple to your boarding card sleeves and they match those to your luggage. They need these even if you have and use the ME tags, to make sure all bags are picked up and accounted for.

If you're really clever, you could tie a gaudy ribbon to your luggage (something many people do anyway, to help themselves recognize their own luggage). Bring a small piece of it and give it to the DME people to help them more quickly identify your bags.

Not. Rocket. Science.

Dizzy - CR was booked up. Poly too. GF not me. WL seems like what my son would like best. We do a lot of outdoor activities like camping (way out where you can actually see the stars in the sky), canoeing/kiacking and hiking. I know he will like the best WL has to offer. Any more questions?

I'll take condescending for $500 Alex.

Seriously dude. You don't have to be so rude or negative. Even if you luggage doesn't have the hotel sticker on it - it will have the baggage claim sticker on it.

They haven't taken anything away from you, they haven't denied you of any privilage, or cheated you out of any amenities. You'll still walk down to the counter like everyone else, and hand them your baggage claim tags...... just like every other person riding DME.

It's a shame you're not riding the bus because it's all part of the grand adventure for kids. The excitement of being on the bus, watching the welcome video is the first real contact with the Disney magic and it's a lot of fun for the kids.

You're taking your son to an amazing place, for the greatest trip a parent can share with a kid that age. Relax, don't sweat the small stuff. And remember kids rarely value the same things we do. I love the mods and deluxes. But the first year we spent at a All Star Music, my daughter thought was the best trip ever.

Don't come here asking advice, then ignore it and then insult it. Thanks for calling me a liar. It's very disappointing to meet people here like you, who ignore two years of FACTS about what has been going on.

You had all the answers before you came here. So why stir the pot with your petty rantings? I come here because I like to help people. I think that you, on the other hand, were just bored and like to toy with the "little people." I mean, use whatever transportation you want, but don't come here asking for help and then call people liars.

Congratulations. You win. I hope for his sake that your son wins, too. By the way, I see no mention of the 4 year old's mother. It makes me wonder if she, too, omitted some paperwork and was summarily dismissed, as well ....

May I ask when you submitted your flight information to Disney? I can't imagine them not sending you the tags by the time of your flight....
You began your thread here stating you didn't care for "Disney"...then why did you decide to choose this for your vacation destination?
Your son? :) Not having these ME luggage tags should not ruin your trip...however, I am happy to hear you enjoyed your "suit" on your "busines" trip:)

I with this dis'r. After reading the original post and all the responses I think the o.p. is in on his own little joke. Hmmmm....must be bored tonight and wanted to see who he could stir up. Don't take the bait any longer. So many great answers have been given. Nothing else even needs to be said. Let the super gigantic stretch limo makes it way to the mouse. Hope the driver doesn't forget the map.... I definitely have other threads to read as I plan for my value trip coming up in 2 weeks.

Did they give you a reason for not overnighting the tags? I had the same problem, called, and they overnighted the tags even though I had told them that wasn't necessary. Were you nice to the person you talked to?
