I bought my stock years ago but finally have seen a steady increase in the price. I am glad that the stock is reflecting a healthy outlook on the company.

Interesting that you should mention this today. MSNBC had a discussion this morning about Disney stock. They basically said to expect the price to level off for a while. PoTC4 was one of the contributing factors to the rise in value. Theme parks (which make up about 30% of the Walt Disney Co.) are not expected to show much until the last quarter, which is when they traditionally show a profit.

I bought a few shares many years ago, when we were getting ready to take my now-grown daughter on her first trip as a very little girl! I sort of forget I have it, but am also glad it has regained some of that lost value.

It was almost more of a souvenir type purchase and I still believe that Disney has absolutely the coolest stock certificate ever! :goodvibes

A lot of people buy Disney stock (NYSE: DIS), because of fond memories of a trip to Florida.

Just remember the success of The Walt Disney Company goes way beyond the parks -- things like hit movies and their TV ventures play heavily into the company's fortunes...

My inlaws bought several shares of Disney stock many years ago, and gave shares to their 5 grandchildren (including my 2 kids). Since then, the stock has split (twice?) and right now, my boys each have 6 shares. Not going to pay for their college education, but they both like getting the 42 cent dividend checks. :rotfl2:

If they have six shares, they should have each received a check for $2.40. This past January Disney paid an annual dividend of 40¢ per share for holders of record on December 13, 2010.

I bought some shares for myself and my daughter though ING Sharebuilder a few years ago and am also quite happy with the value increase. Our dividends are reinvested though.

 Yes, they were for $2.40, but that's about as worthwhile to a 15-yr-old as 42 cents. They more enjoy knowing they own a part of Disney than for the big bonus of the huge dividend.

I'd buy more shares if I knew how to get the dividends reinvested. :scratchin
