Disney Stock News & Earnings

Sadly I bought high and the stock has lost 25% since...
And if you sell now you lock in that loss. But if you buy more now the stock only needs to rise 13% from today (assuming you buy an equal amount as your current holdings) before you are back positive.

Have owned Disney stock for 35 yrs. Up & down. Splits. Seen it all.
Dollar-cost averaging; monthly auto-invest. We are not sophisticated investors.
But I've learned not to panic. Value continued to rise over the decades despite occasional major upsets, often during changes in management.

I do feel, though, that Chapek's approach to, well... everything, is NOT good for investors, cast members or guests. It's inevitable that partner companies also won't appreciate instability.

Change is not inherently bad. But new management (especially when publicly mentored by former management bc Chapek's qualifications & plans were concerning) & radical revision of a company's business model during economic uncertainty, does not inspire confidence for investors.

I'm proud to have signed the petition to fire Chapek.

Good old Bob has driven the stock to its lowest point in a year.

"but wait guests are buying genie +" speech is starting to sound more and more like the desperate pleas of someone walking the plank.

Well with any luck

"Customer satisfaction has never been higher!" Yeah, okay, Bob.

I read an article that he was pulled from the D23 line up of speakers because they were afraid he'd get booed off the stage. Iger gave him an out by coming up with this "dinner" he attended. The dude knows he's lying through his teeth. Kind of makes me think of the closing scene in "Animal House" when chaos breaks out at the parade and the Kevin Bacon character is screaming "All is well!" Swap Kevin with Chapek and you've got the current situation.

Cut your losses and invest in Cedar Fair.

@Rusty2rules what's so funny with my Cedar Fair suggestion? They constantly add to their parks.

I thought you were being facetious getting a dig in at The Mouse. I had some of their stock last year and got rid of it. Did nothing but drop while I had it. I haven't looked at it in quite some time.

It's been doing ok. They beat expected earnings last quarter. Which is better then Disney did. Personally I think they are focusing too much on Disney+

I don't think I'll be buying anything travel or tourist related for awhile unless it drops to some ridiculous number. That sector is just too uncertain right now.

Found some spare change and put it into VOO…
Once bitten, twice shy.
Here’s my tiny IRA:
629448
My results here informed my decision to buy more VOO in my “just to play” trading account.

I bought into Apple after it dropped after the last split. In at $121/share. Not to brag, but it's doing quite nicely. Disney on the other hand...

I doubt it changes much IF he comes back. Bob 2.0 maybe CEO but a lot of what's going on is also up the board.

True, but leadership matters. It wouldn't be an instant 180 pivot like a lot of fans want though - it would take some time to change the general mindset. It could happen though, but only if Iger stuck around for a while, which I don't think will happen anyway.

The Walt Disney Co's shareholder meeting is coming up in March. Will Chapek receive a vote of no confidence from the shareholders? That's what resulted in the eventual removal of Eisner.

Has a CEO of disney ever been more disliked? To the point they dare not even put him on stage for fear of rotten dole whip being thrown?

Bob will continue to bob until the gate receipts force a u turn.

As much as fans hate him, I think the board and Wall Street love him. He has done a lot things they have always wanted to do. Paid FP and getting rid of MDE are 2 of those things. As much as people complain the parks are busy.
