Disney specific camera?

Most if not all will be in our Disney photo books. So 5x7. Maybe slightly larger. My main concern is character pics and kid pics and good castle pictures and such..

If you're shooting in good light, almost any camera can handle that stuff. (including your phone).

I'd recommend the Canon gx7, the Sony RX100, as the top 2 choices. If you want to replace the D5100 with something smaller and better, I'd go with the A6000. (and you can get a few dollars selling the D5100 stuff).

Does anyone expect a price drop before early May on the a6000? Wasn't sure if a new one is on its way out. Still researching and not in extreme hurry as I have time before Alaska in May and Disney after that.

It just had a huge price drop. In fact, you can find some amazing refurbished deals. So I doubt another price drop is imminent, but it may come down another few dollars when the new model is released.

Do you recommend refurb? If I get 2 lenses do you recommend the 18-50 and 55-210. Those number may be slight off. It's the kit on Amazon?

16-50 and 55-210. It's a very consumer friendly combo. The 16-50 is tiny. Then you use the 55-210 for sports, Safari, etc. But often you won't even need to carry the 55-210. In the long term, you may want to add the 50/1.8, and then it becomes a full upgrade from your d5100 combo.

mirrorless is the way to go when traveling all day with camera gear. Most mirrorless systems allow you to use existing lens with an adapter and they also have 'pancake' style lens that are small and light.

$696 for two lens kit PLUS Lightroom 6 (best raw editing, photo organization, and basic editing software, retails separately for $140).
Darn good value.... Clearing stock because new model is coming. I'd expect the new model to launch at a price a few hundred dollars higher (I suspect the body + basic lens will launch at about $700-900, placing the dual kit at $850-1050).

Great deal! Still researching today. Going to search forum for pics taken with the camera and check out some YouTube videos. I did see Best Buy had all 3 lens for 899 at Best Buy.

Zackiedawg in the Sony thread shoots with it. In the cruise critic photo board forum, there is a whole thread devoted to the camera.

No camera is magic. But the a6000 seems to check a lot of boxes for size and performance at its price point. It's faster and smaller than most similarly priced dslrs.
