Disney Spain

A friend of mine who is an expat near Estepona tells me that Disney are bulding something interesting nearby.

I know there was some discussion a little while ago but without anything concrete.

Anybody know anything more ?

Definitely not heard of anything like this in the news recently, I'd think if Disney were building something then it would be big news, but I don't know that there definitely isn't anything going on. The only thing that I can think is that maybe it's something to do with Disney Cruise Line if one of the new ships is to be based in Europe.

There was of course the Euro Disney saga many years ago, where the current location of PortAventura was considered as a possible site for the Euro Disney Resort before it was built in Paris.

My guess would also be something to do with DCL given the location of Estopona. It wouldn't suprise me if one of the ships is relocated to Europe during the summer months once the 2 new ships are delivered.

Went out with some friends at the weekend who work for Disney, there are rumours about something in China but nothing mentioned about Spain.

Rumours have been circulating for a couple of years. Google throws up all sorts of articles and blogs, most of which refer to an article in the Sunday Times in 2006. This site covers off the various rumours in one article although it hasn't been updated for a year.
