Disney Skyliner (Gondola Transportation System) Read Post 1 Now Open!

I think the weight of the cars and the tension on the cable is such that motion in one car won't "travel down the cable" to other cars, but I cannot see being allowed a car for 8 all to myself in the morning rush or at closing, based only on something that *might* happen.

I won't ask for that kind of special treatment, but I won't chance riding a gondola with a group of strangers, either. (I have nothing against riding transit or theme-park rides with strangers under normal circumstances, just not in vehicles that can be made to sway more than normal.)

Now that I'm back from DLR and have some experience I'm wondering if they'll do it like Pixar Pal-A-Round--not a lot of guests in line you get your own gondola for your party--too many guests waiting and you'll be merged with other guests and share the gondola.

I have to think though that near constant loading should def. help with the back up of guests.

I can understand not wanting to chance it though in your case.

Obviously we will have to wait and see but I really don't think they will ever jam it full of people that don't know each other. Like at park opening or close and you are a party of 2, yeah, you might go with another party of 2 or 4 or something but I don't think they will even jam 10 strangers together

Then when empty they will let even parties of 2 go alone

No I'm not saying jam it full..

But if you're a party of 2 or 3 and there's quite the backup I could see them adding another party of 2 or 3 (or whatever just using it as an example) to the same gondola.

The PP spoke as if it would just be them to which I do understand how if it was just 1 or 2 people on higher demand times being in your own gondola may be harder.

I think we are saying the exact same thing ... I just obviously just must have worded it very poorly :rotfl:

lol yeah we were saying the same thing just clarifying what I meant by my statement. I doubt they'll force you to be completely and utterly jammed full but I wasn't even thinking that when I first made my statement. Just was thinking small small parties aspect but I probably didn't word my statement well the first time

I cannot get over how much people are freaking out about AC. You are not going to cook, the lines are going to be fast moving and the cabins are ventilated even though you are likely not going to be in those very long either.

I also agree that the whole A/C debate silly.

Definitely no a/c - will have passive cooling with vent slats and reflective coating

FWIW, i've lived in Alabama for 40 years now and have been to Orlando in the summer. There's no way I would get in any enclosed vehicle or structure without air conditioning when its over 70 degrees! Its misery here to get in a vehicle in the summer time until the air conditioner kicks in, or when your power goes out in the summer. The heat and humidity can be brutal.

And as for non A/C ventilation, all you are doing is moving hot air inside.

I don't find it silly at all, and I keep wondering what Disney was thinking to not include air conditioning.
