Disney Skyliner (Gondola Transportation System) Read Post 1 Now Open!

and a historic day for the number of comments I am responding to on the DISBoards Facebook post for this story (along with other people from this thread trying to inform people who still can't believe it won't have A/C and just saying incorrect things)

You and me both...
Not to mention the people on the DISboards on FB page. :badpc:

Disney needs to get some of these with the clear floors (.27 in video :0)

Just came up with some food for thought: both the WDWRR and TTA operate out in the FL heat and humidity without onboard air conditioning. I do admit both receive a bit more shade/cover from sunlight than the gondolas will offer, that they are completely open air vs louvered reflective windows, and that the TTA does run through buildings with A/C, but these are "low-speed" transport methods out in the FL sun that we typically don't hear a lot of complaining about.

Basically what I'm saying is that it's entirely plausible that the "OMG NO A/C?!?" crowd is making a mountain out of a molehill. Time will tell.

None of those go 16 mph, either. (I don't think)

On the scale between sitting in shade with a breeze and standing in the sun with no wind, I expect these to be much closer to the sitting in the shade side. It'll probably feel a bit hotter than that, but much cooler than standing in the sun or a Toy Story Land queue.

I think a lot of people think it'll be like sitting in a hot car, but the airflow and the highly reflective tint should prevent that.

Also the friendship boats don’t have any, or any other boat transport. The friendships also don’t have great circulation through those tinted windows yet somehow everyone has survived a trip to Epcot in them

The no a/c crowd is definitely making a mountain out of a molehill. But if people don’t have something to complain about whatever would they do? I am just so sad these won’t open in June. We really were looking forward to the awesome transport to 2 parks. Plus we are taking a Disney break for a few years. Oh well such is life :)

Stumbled upon this today, it's pretty long but in the first 10 minutes I think it kinda shows what to expect in the station loading area as far as speed. Not sure its the same gondola and also has a drop off during loading that would not be kid friendly..maybe they will have a different way to avoid stepping on and off the gondola without all the movement :scared1:

From what I’ve seen from the pictures from the latest event, these supposedly will have a ramp of sorts that comes out to make it a level surface.

This video shows some of the same elements as the Skyliner. I watched the whole ride and noticed the station that slowed and opened the doors like what will be similar to the Riviera station. Then it went to the 90 degree turn before getting to Epcot.
Plus if you are a little nervous about riding...I wouldn't turn the sound up...a lot of squeaking and creaking noises going thru the stations....

No AC... but what will the soundtrack inside the cars be? Probably too much to hope it matches the characters printed on the outside of your car.

That would be pretty hard to do assuming there is a soundtrack in the first place.
