Disney Shuts Down LucasArts

There's no question Disney will dictate terms. But they will also have developers lining up to pitch ideas.

In the end, a better approach than expecting LucasArts to develop quality products internally with whatever staff Disney is willing to provide.

The number of game developers - studios from large to small who will be foaming at the mouth at the opportunity to produce a Star Wars game is going to be ENORMOUS. lots of competition - and lots of opportunity for a great game.

Not if there's money to be made in those iOS/Android ports. Disney still owns the intellectual property. All they need to do is farm-out the conversion to Disney Interactive or some third party.

They need to do DOTT. Seriously. When they first did Secret of Monkey Island I emailed Ron Gilbert through his website asking if they were going to port DOTT. His response was "nothing is planned :(". Please Disney!

HAHA... you know... I was just thinking about how "SWEET! Disney now owns Monkey Island! MONKEY ISLAND THE MOVIE!!"...

.... and then, I realized they've already done that.

Only if you're using 100% of the cases in Disney's history to base your judgement upon...

I can not tell if you are being sarcastic or not because I did not fully explain myself in the original post? lol But my point was that quality may or may not increase. The James Bond Franchise left Rare to go with EA, who likely did not do the same sales but for a better royalty %, contract, etc.

I think their could be some hits, but their could also be a lot of misses. It is just the nature of the beast. I believe you will have a mix of both just like LucasArts especially once the new company makes a hit game and can simply phone home sequels.

But I question that the people who will make the decision on who gets the license even plays video games at all and instead will look at who they believe will give them the maximum profit.

Well, if you look at the last 10 years of LucasArts releases... and the last 10 years of Disney "farmed-out-to-the-highest-bidder" releases... Sorry, but Disney wins the quality race hands-down. No doubt in my mind that they will improve the quality.
