It is horrific. I do hope that DCL and the other cruise lines who have profited so much from the Bahamas spend real money there to help them rebuild.

Yes, I was trying to stay positive, but I also felt the amount was low considering the devastation, how much Disney has, and how much they've made off their Bahamas cruises over the years.

Hopefully the help will be ongoing and this is just a start.

Glad to see the two brands we sail have contributed, interesting to see if Carnival Corp will step up as well. They haven’t gotten much good press in the Bahamas due to their own doings, so hopefully they step up too.

If there are actual projects, the will have the opportunity to sign up either on off time or there may be extra time incentive to sign up.There are also many more crew than just servers.

It can also take the form of fundraising - they have done duck races down the AquaDuck before as a fundraiser for Make-A-Wish or something similar. They could do that or similar for hurricane relief.

Not sure if I read the trip report on here or another board but a family wrote about their experience on a volunteer excursion in Nassau. Besides the crew helping, the passengers can volunteer also.

Even just getting off the boat and spending a few dollars to support the local economy can be helpful. The volunteer excursions vary but after reading the trip report we plan to do this on a future cruise. There seems to be multiple options at multiple ports. Not sure but I believe the poster coordinated with the Hope Floats group, another is Together For Good. So just adding a few options to the “well we can just stay on the ship” day in port.
