Disney Riviera Resort

Yes it is. It gives a next door option that wasn't there before, esp for SSR owners.

If this was being built west of Allstars, I would agree.

Right...because If they build standard dvc and put it on Barbados...owners won't walk pass SAB and say "I want THAT!!"

??

I don't think anything will ease pressure on Beach Club. Beach Club has reached an almost mythical status compared to the rest of DVC. I think that it will always be looked upon as the Holy Grail as far as a lot of DVC owners go, especially during the festivals at EPCOT, and probably at HS after Star Wars land is opened.

I can see DRR being an overflow resort for people who cannot get Beach Club or Boardwalk, but I don't see it as being the first choice over either of these two resorts.

I agree with that. But that's a far cry from a few pages back that these owners are going to flood the good spots, like SSR owners do.

BCV is safe no doubt. But SSR owners (as will regular guests) will walk through EPCOT and say "I want that" about DRR as well.

There will always be demand for DVC so long as rack rates continue to rise at astronomical rates, thus making a value proposition for the purchase of DVC. That's a separate argument (and the value proposition ain't what it used to be, but is still there).

DVC was always sold as deluxe for the price of moderate. We're (potentially) flirting with moderate for the price of deluxe, depending on how this thing shakes out (way too early to tell), and you're putting your head in the sand if you think that has no long-term ramifications to other owners or the future direction of DVC as a whole years down the line.

I really do hope that you are right: that we get a true deluxe resort, and if that's the case, we'll all be happy. I personally think this thing has a good chance at being a hybrid moderate/deluxe, which is a slippery slope. No doubt it will sell (all DVC's eventually do).

Yes we will see.

Nice side step, again. Will DRR reduce pressure on BCV or increase it?

Very unlikely as 1.) BCV is a 30 second walk from WS and the fancy new gondolas can't beat that and 2.) I highly doubt Riveria gets a pool anything close to Stormalong. If #2 happens, it might put a dent in demand, but I think #1 is more important to most. We have to see what is built before this can truly be answered.

Again agree, but that is far from saying DRR will flood other resorts like SSR owners do.

You agree with that post...and have argued against all the individual points separately...

Are you actually awake?

Do you understand "overflow resort"?

It won't reduce crunch...simple. This is just the latest in a long line of "remedial devil's advocacy"

Agreeing that BCV is the Holy Grail and will always be popular doesn't mean DRR won't be popular, and therefore it becomes another option next door. Those new owners wont be flooding the other resorts.

I don't think the gondola system will stink (unless there is no AC, then it literally will).

But will it be better than walking to EPCOT?

What about to MK? The gondola wont be going there (maybe it will one day?).

And you can gondola back to POP. It's not some exclusive perk.

I guess the value of the gondola is more than I'm giving it.

I just don't get it. But apparently people are willing to buy a DVC with a themed pool and a gondola. Good for WDW's bottom line.

But I still have concerns that a shared gondola with POP will be enough to keep people booking there down the road.

I won't know til I'm 40, but initially I'm extremely skeptical.

On the bright side, if my concerns turn out to be valid, people will be scooping up more $40-50 pp resale contracts.....

Disney could increase the perceived value of the gondolas,
AND the perceived value of subsequent jacked /up prices for Pop, CBR, & AoA

BY making the gondolas exclusive to
Riviera,,
AND Pop, CBR, & AoA.

Magic Bands & IDs could be checked
in a separate line before queuing to board.

Exclusivity could be the key!!!

That's a pretty good summary of what I see as being a problem.

How long do people accept an overflow for $180/pp?

The DRR owners will not consider it an overflow IMO, the existing members will.

If it were west of Allstars I would agree.

I think you lose exclusivity once you tie in a $300/night resort with a $140/night resort...

"it's exclusive to you......and 4 other resorts"

And by the way, the other 4 are paying less.......

Same with ME and park buses I suppose.

Which is the problem.

Existing members will not be clamoring to go, maybe will take it if its all they can get.

But the new CBR Villas DRR owners most likely will be clamoring to go to other properties.

Especially in years 5-52.

Hopefully they really jazz up the overflow.

Ok...real...slloooowwww

You agreed that Barbados tower could be an overflow hotel. The CURRENT overflow hotels are old key west, Saratoga and animal kingdom...

If they underbuild, underwhelm this...it would join them and put more strain on the in demand ones...

This isn't hard.

Agreed. CR, GF and Poly all command premiums - even over other deluxes - for being on the monorail. IMO, it will be hard to use the hanging basket line as an argument to command $170/point when it's also tied to Pop Century.

DRR becomes an overflow for BCV demand. DRR owners will not consider DRR as looking to stay elsewhere, like SSR owners do.
