Disney Riviera Resort

"Buy where you want to stay"...you've dribble that 110 times on these discussions...

7 months isn't a problem...except it was just identified as a problem...and rightly so.

You use the system wrong. SSR owners want BCV at 7 months. We already have it.

SSR owners will also want DRR for EPCOT and DHS on a few minute gondola-esp when Star Wars Land opens-its a guarantee.

DRR therefore will reduce pressure on BCV.

I think the gondola will be "exclusive" because they will price them into exclusive.

This will result in massive rate increases for 7 different hotels...by my count. And the route of the gondola conveniently puts it in a useless spot for the swan and dolphin...almost like they planned it.

I bet the Swolphin wouldn't pitch in for it. By the time I could walk to the station, I could walk to DHS.

Wow! I agree that there is a lot of assuming going on. It might be best to wait until it all plays out and hopefully common sense will win out over time. Meanwhile I'll be at Port Orleans where this stuff will never happen. I can dream. ;)

I can't imagine spending so much money to stay at CBR though. I still see it as the same place. However maybe it will all be a nice surprise once done. Right now it looks mediocre at best and very ugly at worst and prices will go up for everyone.

Many folks are not the target market.

People never seem to grasp this...you can't build 2 dimensional hotels. And even if you have 2 fireworks to look at (nobody will get more than one)...then somebody is gonna be low and staring at the dumpsters behind OPR or High an look at POP!...

Lol..."you have a view of the hippy dippy pool..." that's great.

The room is "pool view", never do they say which pool...... :)

Many folks are not the target market.
I suspect that everyone is the target market. But you could be right that only a certain elite group is of interest.

I hope that the targets enjoy what's coming.

HaHa, so both sides have fireworks (viewable by all from the top by the way) so this is a bad idea because you can't see out both sides from each room. What could they be thinking?

Maybe they should install curtains that can't be opened to alleviate such a problem.

Then they could also keep all the points the same, instead of less for the lower rooms.

Please stop playing the fool...it's so tired. Vacation club was sold on the flexibility...period.

Building "moderate" amenities and selling full price is a mistake...all other stuff you just did is your Thang...

Well which is it? Everyone, or the targets?
I think that my point was pretty clear. That is with the whole post in place.

Disney wants everyone to pay their inflated prices. The target you keep referring to is narrow but likely more valuable to today's Disney.

They will sell 5-10,000 contracts on those 300 units...reducing demand at beach club is not a realistic outcome.

Yes it is. It gives a next door option that wasn't there before, esp for SSR owners.

If this was being built west of Allstars, I would agree.

I'm not the only one saying there will be no lack of demand.

But I can see you are not the target market for this project.

Then why do you think there will be no lack of demand?

There will always be demand for DVC so long as rack rates continue to rise at astronomical rates, thus making a value proposition for the purchase of DVC. That's a separate argument (and the value proposition ain't what it used to be, but is still there).

DVC was always sold as deluxe for the price of moderate. We're (potentially) flirting with moderate for the price of deluxe, depending on how this thing shakes out (way too early to tell), and you're putting your head in the sand if you think that has no long-term ramifications to other owners or the future direction of DVC as a whole years down the line.

I really do hope that you are right: that we get a true deluxe resort, and if that's the case, we'll all be happy. I personally think this thing has a good chance at being a hybrid moderate/deluxe, which is a slippery slope. No doubt it will sell (all DVC's eventually do).

I don't think anything will ease pressure on Beach Club. Beach Club has reached an almost mythical status compared to the rest of DVC. I think that it will always be looked upon as the Holy Grail as far as a lot of DVC owners go, especially during the festivals at EPCOT, and probably at HS after Star Wars land is opened.

I can see DRR being an overflow resort for people who cannot get Beach Club or Boardwalk, but I don't see it as being the first choice over either of these two resorts.

I'm laughing...but I'd laugh a lot more if that wasn't so accurate
