Okay I can't use the search function (doesn't seem to help me much) can anyone give me a quick breakdown on how the Reward Card works. Is it like FF miles? Thanks for any help you can provide. If there is a thread that breaks this down, point me to it please. Thanks

You get one point for each $100 charged on the card. Occasionally they will offer double points on certain Disney purchases or 0% financing on Disney vacation charges. The details of each of these specials varies but they usually have some promotion going on. Also, you will receive a $50 onboard credit from Disney Cruise Line if you pay for your entire cruise with your Disney Visa.

Thanks for the link and the info. Can you cash in the reward points for OBC?

You have to request a special "points card" from the credit card company. You can then transfer any reward dollars you have to this card. You can use the card at WDW, DL, and DCL (among other places). On DCL you just need to bring your card to Guest Services and they will apply the reward dollars to your shipboard account. I believe that you can also do this in advance over the phone.

Okay...how does one request the points card to use on the cruise and about how long does it take to receive it? Thanks

How do you get a $50 credit if you pay for your entire cruise with Disney Visa? I just paid off my cruise with my Visa but no one mentioned a credit.

Call them and, if it is not already there, ask them to put one on your account. I know that this credit was available when I booked our last two cruises and I haven't heard that it has been discontinued so I'd definitely call.

All of the above

and my favorite . . .

Put your Disney trips on it and no interest for 6 months. Our money sits in the bank earnig interest until the payoff day. OR like for this next cruise - I finish saving the money! AND a Disney trip earns lots of Disney Dollars on the rewards card.

I wanted the Disney Rewards Visa to help pay for our next cruise, so I got one a few months ago, but with their $750 reward limit per year, I'm not going to get as much in rewards dollars as I had hoped I would by the time we cruise again (1% doesn't add up too fast). Therefore, we're deciding to instead get a cash reward card with up to 3% cash back plus 25% earnings bonus. We know that the cash rewards from this card will only be used to pay for our cruise. These extra incentives from other cards are making me stray...even though I love flashing my Mickey & Friends card around town!

It takes $75,000 in charges annually to get $750 in Disney rewards dollars at the usual 1% rate. That's $6250/month. I doubt I would come close to charging that much, even if we charged everything to the Visa.

Crafty Mouse,

I also booked my trip on my Disney Visa, and as far as I am aware, did not receive any OBC. When you say to call "them", who do you mean? Do I contact DCL, Visa, or my TA? Thanks.

You have to have paid for the entire cruise with your Disney Visa, not just the deposit. As long as that is the case then I would look into it. If you have booked through a TA then your TA will have to do this for you. DCL will not deal directly with cruisers using TAs.

That's exactly why we're going with a card that will hopefully earn more than $750 per year in rewards by spending far less than 75G/yr. :)

Thanks CraftyMouse. I called DCL and they told me there is a $50 stateroom credit if I pay for entire cruise using the Disney Visa. The DCL agent said my travel agent should call DCL and ask for the credit for me. I've already emailed my travel agent so hopefully she will get the credit for me today.

Gotcha - I thought the $75,000 limit wasn't going to be enough for you! :)

I'm hoping to earn an extra 100 Disney Rewards dollars from my January - March spending on gas, groceries, drug stores, and dining with their 5x promotion. The threshold I have to cross is only $100/month in those categories. Instead of charging $10,000 to earn 100 Disney rewards dollars, I'll only have to charge $2000 in those 4 categories over the next 3 months, after meeting the $100 minimum/month. It shouldn't be hard to spend $767/month ($100 to meet the threshold and $667 additional spending) at the gas station, grocery store, or eating out.

Wouldn't that be nice to be able to afford to spend that much and have it not be enough?!?!?!?! ;)

Anyway, please tell me more about this 5x promotion! I haven't heard anything about it, but it's definitely an incentive for me to use my card more if I can earn more! I thought I was kept updated about the perks, but apparently not (or else I missed it somewhere!). Do you have a link to this info or was it sent via email/postal? Thanks!

Not everyone with a Disney Visa got the flyer in the mail, and some that did had really high thresholds to meet before any additional spending would result in bonus dollars: http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1673237

What a coincidence! I decided to do some research myself and came across that exact post just by Googling "5x Disney Visa." I saw a post from you and saw that your green light was on, so I came back here to let you know I found it, but you beat me to it! :rotfl2: Unfortunately, I must've been one of the "unlucky" ones that didn't get offered the 5x rewards. Must be where the pixie dust falls--same as getting a cabin upgrade on the cruise. :confused3
