Good afternoon.

I have a question. It might have been answered before but here goes: I have a Disney Visa card and have about $400 reward dollars earned. I know I can use these toward my onbaord account but I want to know if I can use these dollars as payment toward the cruise? If so how would I go about doing this? When I make a reservation for the cruise what steps do I need to take to redeem these? Any information would be appreciated. We plan on sailing in 2010. :confused3

Thanks.

Are you booking directly through DCL? Or a TA? It depends on the TA's accounting policy...some call DCL to put the payment through and some agencies take the payment and then send an agency check to DCL for payment..if latter than they only want to use the standard cash, MC, Amex, Visa, etc. If they call DCL to make the payment then you can use the Reward Points as payment. If booking with DCL directly just call them up and use them for payment.

I was able to use them with my TA's office (which is not allowed to be posted here) and I believe DU (site sponsor) also accepts them as payment.

I recently transferred my cruise over to a TA for the onboard credits, and I also inquired about the rewards points that I would want to be using toward the cruise. She told me that a type of CC is issued with the reward dollar amount once we have it transferred over. Then, all I have to do is call her up with the number and she'll have it applied to my balance (for the cruise). Hope that helps...

Correct...you have to first earn the REWARD DOLLARS by using your Disney Visa, then tranfer those reward dollars (points) to a Rewards Card (like a credit card or gift card) and then give the Rewards Card number to a participating TA to apply the reward dollars.

You can transfer your earned reward dollars at the Disney Visa website or over the phone. Allow at least 10 days to get the physical card in the mail if you plan on bringing it with you on vacation.

Also, if you are using your Disney Visa to get the $50 onboard credit, you cannot use the Reward Points to pay for your cruise. You must use the Disney Visa to make the total payment.

Personally, I find it easier to get the rewards card and use it at guest services to pay off my account. Again, be aware that they cannot refund anything you have not used--don't put down a deposit with the rewards card; only use it to pay off whatever you have accumulated.

That is not what I was told when I called DCL and booked. They said that the reward dollars do not count, and as long as the rest of the payment is still with the Disney Visa, then the OBC will still be given.
Has anyone else heard anything about this???

I wondered about this also, unfortunately did not apply for the rewards card when I paid deposit on trip am now wondering if I use Disney Rewards card to pay balance which is still a lot, if I can still get the OB credit. Anyone know?

The DCL agent may not have the same information at the Visa people. I'd call the Visa people and double check.

Do you earn points for the amount of $ you charge to your Disney Visa to pay for a cruise or do they only give you the booking credit of $50?
