Disney Reveals New Details on Shanghai Disneyland

It looks amazing, but it does need more rides. They seem to be a mile a part from each other. Maybe they are pulling a Hollywood and opening it early to bring some money in. Then after a year or two they'll add some more rides.
It was already delayed supposed to open this year but now looking at a spring 2016 opening. May is supposedly the target tho.

Yep, time is money. Disney knows they can't sit back and put their feet up. Even if they have to use duct tape and bubble gum to fix attractions it will open.

Soooo.....I don't know if this is relevant AT ALL, but...I'm going to post it here as fodder for further discussion:

Note the 2 most recent announcements about contracts to deliver their ride system for use at a large theme park in SE Asia.

and this is the sort of interesting part:
http://www.kuka-entertainment.com/en/company/system_partner/

Would that possibly fit with dynamic attractions providing some sort of KUKA arm based platform (which Uni has regional exclusivity for....see Forgotten Journey.....but not in SE Asia) for an attraction or 2 (Soarin over the Horizen and maybe the Peter Pan ride?) at Shanghai?

Or do you all think maybe it's for something else?

Some rumors say they are already working on new attractions to open one-two years later after opening day. The extra budget they announced would cover that. I guess they'll try to avoid another Hong Kong.

I think the new details make Shanghai Disneyland look amazing! I'm seriously considering changing my 2016 October trip from Hong Kong to Shanghai to be there during the 1st year.

That's good, they've definitely got enough land for it. This is why I always try to avoid park openings though. Not only does the park not have enough attractions, but it's really crowded as well.

The same goes for new rides, there's way too many people in one area and I'm talking crazy people. People who will stand in line for 6 hours for a ride which 3 months later will have a 30 minute line. I'm definitely going to stay away from King Kong for at least a year.

But where the fun in that if you haven't spent 2/3 of your day in a line!

I joke, I personally would never queue for more than 2 hours, that's my absolute limit and even that is a crazy amount of time.

However I'd like to tell the story of being in Shanghai Disney in its opening year. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

I'm a little disappointed that the Alice section is after the live-action one. I really hate that version. But I still am interested to see what it'll look like? My curiosity gets the better of me.

Well it's in Shanghai not the U.S. So they probably felt the live action version works better there.

Here's a video montage of concept art for the park.

I so hope we get some awesome announcements for Florida coming our way. That parks sounds amazing.

I checked google satellite view and found that it has a fairly recent photo of the site with much of the buildings/construction visible.

Here is the raw image followed by the same image with labels based on the map that rteetz posted above. Check out the 100' scale in the upper left corner. Maybe it will help you figure out the size compared to other parks.

It's interesting to note from a "Feng Shui" viewpoint that this park is not aligned exactly north-south like Disneyland Anaheim, Magic Kingdom, Epcot, or for that matter Beijing's Temple of Heaven Park and Tiananmen Square/Forbidden City.

Yep this park is unlike anything ever done by Disney before. Like Iger said they want it distinctly Chinese. This is the kind of park that will be marketed to only mainland China, they basically don't want anyone else there.

I wouldn't say it's short on rides, but then again,I'm comparing it to the opening of Disney MGM Studios, Animal Kingdom, HKDL and Disney Studios Paris :p
