Disney resort transfers question

On our last cruise, we took Disney transfers from the airport, and to the best of my recollection, they did the whole check-in process at the desk right there at the airport, so when we arrived at the terminal, all we had to do was go through security and then board since we arrived past our boarding time.

When you take Disney transfers from the resorts, do they check you in like that too? Or do you have to check-in at the terminal counters?

Yes, they used to do at MCO but it stopped in 12/2012 so you are remembering correctly :)

Oh that's such a shame. That was one of the (many) things that set DCL above the other lines and made buying DCL transfers worth it!

(We went in 11/2012, so I guess we were one of the last to do it.)

the airport check in was a test, not a permanent service. For whatever reason they deemed it not feasible to keep it. It was only in effect for a short time (maybe a year or so). We loved the service and used it a few times. Who knows why they decided not to do it any longer.

Also note that if you are taking DCL transfers from the resorts you will not get to the port until much later....like between 12:30-2:00 depending on your resort and how many resorts your bus stops at before heading out to the port.

It is still very convenient but if you want to get to the port earlier than a rental car or private transfer may be a better choice.

I didn't realize it was a test, but we loved it too. I wish they had decided to keep it. We are aware that the resort transports arrive later, but it just works out best for us, money-wise and convenience-wise, looking at our other options.

They just check your booklet to see the purchased cruise transfers (and scan it I think) and you get on the bus...same at MCO and resort. Everything else is done at the port. If you have done everything online and printed and signed the extra papers ahead of time, check in is super fast.
