Overwhelmed newbie here!! We would like to stay somewhere with a suite and kitchen. Are there any that have transportation to the park that have these type of accomodations? We plan to go in the fall of 08. Thanks!

Disney Vacation Club all have some sort of "kitchen". The studios are glorified hotel rooms with a wet bar and refridge. The 1, 2, and 3 bedroom all have kitchens. As far as transportation they all have some sort of transportation. Deluxe Resorts usually have monorail or boat service that will get you to the monorail, except for AKL where bues are the only mode of transportation. The moderates and value resports for the most part are bus transportation. We travel with our toddler and I prefer monorail, where you can roll right on and off. Or we just rent a car, we like to go back mid-afternoon and give the kids a nap. It really makes a difference in how our vacation goes.

You're singin' my tune! :-)

We took our first trip to WDW last year with DS3 and DD17mo, and we chose to stay at a Vacation Club resort. Best decision we made! Here is a list of the resorts that are considered DVC:

Old Key West
Saratoga Springs
Beach Club
Boardwalk
Wilderness Lodge
Animal Kingdom Lodge

Unfortunately, none of these resorts are on the monorail, but all have buses that run to and from the parks. You should probably check out the DVC board, where you can find out about all the ins and outs of each resort. Personally, we chose OKW because even though it is the oldest of the DVC resorts, the villa had more square footage than the others. And you know with a toddler, the more space the better, right?! :-) We also ordered groceries from Gardengrocer.com, so our kids ate "normal" breakfasts and dinners. Eating every meal "out" is hard on our bodies - I can't imagine what it does to theirs!

Anyway - good luck resort hunting. You can PM me if you have other questions and I'll answer the best I can.

Have fun!

This thread is perfect timing for me! We're trying to plan a trip with some friends, and we'll have an 8 yo, a 5 yo, a 4 yo and a 2 1/2 yo! Thanks for the info (and sorry to hijack!)

there are a lot of people who want suites - kitchens - etc - and you have to think about what you want from your vacation - we've been going down w/the older kids since they were 18 mos old - and the baby since he was six months old - and only one time did we have a kitchen and we didn't need it - are you really going to cook - or is it for snacks - the only thing that we needed a refrigerator for was the milk that each had before bedtime - and unless you're going to know that you will be back each night at a specific time - we ended up throwing out the milk because for a couple of nites they each had their nite-time bottle at the park and fell asleep on the way home - and we never finished the whole container - our snacks never needed refrigeration - or we used the atmosphere of the food courts for eating - so I wouldn't pay for the upgraded rooms if you don't really need it -

We are BWV owners but we also book pkg's with cash. For trips that are longer than 7 nights we always book a 2 bedroom villa thru dvc. We almost always stay at the BWV or BCV more often the BWV. We love that we can walk to MGM and Epcot, then bus to the MK and AK. The close proximity to Epcot opens up lots of dining options. The space a 2 bedroom provides is wonderful with children, although I have never cooked a meal, we like having the large frig for drinks and leftovers. We love the fact we have a master bath with jacuzzi tub and our teend have their own bathroom off the 2 nd bedroom.

When we book cash reservations we tend to lean towards the Poly which has happened alot in the last couple of years due to the change in our family dynamatic. We have added 2 more children since '05 thus recalling the convience of the monorail resort. However, we have no kitchen, no washer/dryer, no jacuzzi tub but we are a hop skip and jump from the park that we spend alot of time at. This makes nap time, melt down moments, and pool time much easier to manage.

When our 2 little ones are a little older we will stay dvc more but for now close proximity to the MK is first and foremost to us.
