I don't even have children, so my opinion will really annoy people.

So everyone is requesting no housekeeping? Otherwise, what's the difference? If you are getting housekeeping, that's your visit. Why would that affect your nap later? Although except for last trip, housekeeping always came after 2, so naps didn't work out anyways.

But hey if you are bothered by this, you are bothered by this. Write to Disney.

That’s right, if someone is bothered they are bothered and that’s why they are expressing it and discussing it in this thread. I for one find the erosion of my privacy concerning.. you can pretty much get away with anything now in the name of “safety”. I have no say when it comes to these measures. Where does it stop?
It’s not about naps for me.

As long as they have a mechanism to let people have an uninterrupted midday nap (or whatever time people might want to specify), all good with me. My kids still nap (only at Disney) and while they desperately need it, it can take 30+ mins getting them to sleep. I would not be happy if housekeeping knocked while they were napping.

I would suggest you read the thread on BLT. Two people have been walked in on already while getting dressed, and a mom was walked in on while bathing her children and one of the children is still having issues as a result. There is a huge difference in having the DND sign respected and allowing people to come in anytime. So far,it doesn’t appear to be going that well for the folks at BLT.

Never a requirement, which was very surprising. This new enter at all times rule could result in some serious issues in dog rooms.

Especially since they can be left unattended for up to 7 hours in the resort room.

Ironic that Disney has such a big Housekeeping shortage, yet they want to add this extra layer on to them even in rooms who refuse service.

Let's be real, they are going to be banging on the doors whenever they feel like it so they can check it off their list. There is no way they will institute a sophisticated system where the guest puts in their preferred timeslot for entry.

I hope they are staffing up for this. They barely get the rooms clean as it is

This is the lock that prevents entry, even with a key, when room is occupied. Even if housekeeping opens door lock, the door can only open 4 inches.

Privacy while in room still in tact.

They do have a tool to quickly defeat the swing bar. Though that should buy you enough time to get dressed, etc.

I don't think they will do that either. But I also think that the majority of people - outside this board - won't even be in their rooms during that time, so won't end up being a big deal. Most people are gone for most the day.

Even utilizing the latch diligently seems it will not prevent someone knocking whenever they feel they need access to the room. For anyone with a child who naps (or anyone who suffers from a sleeping disorder), this spells disaster.

I don't think that's necessarily true. Especially at the monorail resorts where this is starting. Lots of people book these resorts for the ease of returning for mid day breaks.

I hope not because that takes this to a new level. BUT if they really want to be able to inspect your room without notice to catch you doing something bad ......... maybe they will remove them ...............

Honestly, I think this could move into a different territory. If that bar is up, I am in the room. I have an expectation for privacy and unless you have determined there is a clear danger .......... a forced entry could be a legal issue. If my room is paid for, I am legally registered and there is no cause for entering .... they might have a problem.

AGREE ^ One of the MAJOR perks for young families and even some of us who stay up very late at night ............ is midday breaks to nap, lay quietly, in hotter months shower .... but especially the many young families being able to get to/from parks for their breaks easily.

Give it six months. After a whole rash of claimed room thefts, spying, several "inappropriate encounters", and they will not only be back, but you will en up having to opt in for room service. Disney is not the first to try this.

Yep. One trip the bar on our door got flipped when housekeeping left somehow. Came back and couldn't get in our room. They have a way to get in past those but it does require replacing the swing bar

Do you think that by using the new door sign it is a trigger for staff to come in? It would be interesting to see if they still checked on rooms when the sign isnt on the door and they think no one is in there to check on.

Considering Disney owns the room I'm not sure you have much ground to stand on. Sorry. But yes, they do have a right to enter your room.

Until they walk in on something they shouldn't and there's a lawsuit.

The “daily towel service” and “Room Occupied” vs. asking for Privacy spells one thing.. exercising their ability to come into your room without warning and check for anything suspicious. It is most definitely for security reasons. It just so happens we end up losing a lot of rights and freedoms and privacy in the name of “keeping us safe”.

Except it doesn't keep us safe it just takes away our privacy.

This is ridiculous. What does Disney hope to accomplish by scaring people and invading their privacy?? We sometimes don't even buy park passes. We just hang out. How can you relax wondering if you might have someone break in to your room? i won't be able to really relax in my room, especially if my husband is not there. If this is really about security, it is a joke. Just wait until after your room check to bring out your weapons!

Hotel GM here. Major brand. We go through DND as needed. That need is based on various factors

Example we won’t allow you more then 2 days with dnd. We have to check the room. We are going to reduce that to once a day also. Too many things can go wrong and many issues will try to be spun back on the hotel

Listen you rent the room. But the hotel has every right to enter. There are good and bad ways to present this to guests but at the end of the day hotel will get in the room
