I know that this was brought up in the FP+ queues snaking throughout the parks thread, but I think this topic deserves its own thread. I'm in shock that Disney just removed the ability to leave reviews on its FB page.

Wow. That certainly is telling. There are clearly many people (obviously not just limited to Disboarders, despite what FP+ supporters keep suggesting) who are extremely upset by this FP+ debacle. The fact that Disney is trying to take steps to make sure that "word of mouth" negativism about FP+ doesn't spread, is interesting to say the least.

I've said it on various threads in the past, but it *does* matter what people think and say in terms of marketing. You can argue your 80/20 theories of the importance and profitability of newbies/once-in-a-lifetimers all you want, but those once-in-a-lifetime trips are sold, in part, through the goodwill and word of mouth enthusiasm of others.

It's much more difficult to sell "dreams" when the social media world (and real life word of mouth world) is peppered with negative reviews.

If too many Disney diehards and previous Disney supporters become naysayers, it will eventually affect Disney's bottom line. That seemingly endless stream of newbies/once-in-a-lifetimers will slow to a trickle. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but it will happen.

And Disney knows it...otherwise they wouldn't be taking steps to suppress the negativity. I don't think the execs expected the backlash over this to be quite so severe.

It'll be interesting to see where this all heads. If they can turn the tide and get the majority to fall in love with FP+, then the negativity of a few obviously becomes moot. However, if the negativity snowballs, then Disney has a billion dollar problem that needs to be addressed/adjusted. I guess only time will tell.

There is a saying in business that it is 5-8 times harder and more expensive to attract a new customer than it is to keep an existing customer.

That is why when you go to a (decent) restaurant and there is an issue with your food or service, they apologize and comp all or part of your check, or take the food back and give you a new plate. They know there are a lot of restaurants to choose from, and it makes smart business sense to keep you happy if they've already gotten you in their door. It's (much) cheaper to keep you than to attract you.

Disney parks, for more than 50 years, have been the Gold Standard for this principle: make them so happy they want to come back over and over...and we won't have to spend a dime attracting them.

Until now.

Agreed!!! I bet Walt is rolling in his grave because of what "they" have done to Disney....:scared1:

It is interesting tatics by Disney on social media to restrict users ability to post up feedback.

Many companies restrict comments that people leave on their FB pages or delete comments they don't like.

Somebody ought to call NBC or CBS and have them run a story/editorial on this. They would jump on it and would eat this up. Its obvious Disney is running for cover.

It is surprising that Disney has taken to this tactic, but it is hard to verify the information that people leave on something like FB.

It's possible that I may have never stepped foot on Disney property in my life, but I can suddenly become a "super special valued VIP" who has gone every year since birth, when I go on Facebook.

Given that fact, it was probably just a matter of time before Disney stopped allowing reviews on FB.

Sure many companies restrict comments on Facebook but Disney just started doing it.

Weak.

New here. Just started planning trip.

What cant you do on the Disney Facebook pages that you could do before?

I see some negative comments on the Walt Disney World FB page.

Can you provide a link to which page you are referring?

I'll be an optimist. WDW knows they've messed up, so they're doing damage control until they can fix it. They don't want people seeing the negative reviews of something that is already in the works and will have changed by the time that person visits. When people give negative reviews, they rarely go back and say "Oh, this company fixed this issue!" and this makes it harder to find the facts.

Truth is, anyone who really wants to know can google for FP experiences and get the current facts from discussion boards. These facts will actually change as the system changes, where reviews won't.

Have any of you seen the new TV ad they just released about MB's & FP+ being available "at select Disney resorts" and inviting us to come try them out "during the testing stage"?!

Sure seems like a B.S. tactic to try and reach a less-informed general audience to come try out this wonderful new system they are "testing". It was hard not to laugh (and cry) at the TV.

While I really want to return to Disney again this fall, I've started looking into alternate vacations instead. After only spending our vacations at Disney since 2006 (multiple trips) I realized I'm longing for the OLD Disney, not the awful lines and lousy technology. While we did love some aspects of the new system on our last trip, I feel like Disney's atmosphere has changed and not for the better. This makes me very sad.

I am sorry. I am confused. I can go on the Walt Disney World Facebook page and read negative things in the comments of some postings.

Where has Disney stopped people from making comments?

https://www.facebook.com/WaltDisneyWorld

You can post negative comments in the pictures comment section (which will be deleted as soon as they are noticed), but there is no longer any way to post on their wall with a comment or leave a review with a star ranking.

What was removed wasn't comments under the pictures they post. There was section over on the right where you could rate the business by stars and leave a comment. Other people could read these comments. I was looking at some this weekend. Now you can't read those comments anymore. Or I can't.

Maybe you're looking at an unofficial page? This is the official FB page: https://www.facebook.com/WaltDisneyWorld

Up until very recently (today? yesterday?) you could leave a "star" ranking with a review to go along with it. There were many "one star" ratings piling up along with negative reviews, most related to FP+. It was basically the first thing you would see on the right side of the page.

Now the capability to leave a rating/review is gone.

You can still leave negative comments under one of the pictures posted, but those are easily deleted by the page owner (Disney). The ratings/reviews are much more permanent, which is apparently why Disney has chosen to remove this feature from their page.

ETA --- a few others beat me to responding to your question. :-)

Wow is all I can say! :sad2: When honest feedback isn't welcome it is a shame. Management really has taken a bad turn!

Disney has spent too much on this mess the scrap it, and I wish they would.
